Can’t say I’ve ever seen a supposed Cup contender look as much like complete dogshit as these Oilers do. How does a team with McDavid and Draisaitl only put up 2 against a team that gave up 10 in back to back games just last week?!?
They have been abysmal defending against the rush and their goalies are probably below league average (I think they probably aren’t as bad as their numbers look) and that’s not a good combo.
They are ripe for a coaching change. I don’t know if there’s anything particularly bad about their coach, but if they want to save this season they probably should switch to very boring “clog up the middle” defensive system and just rely on the PP plus regular McDavid magic to win games. They are giving up way too much on the counter attack, and they really don’t have to with the kind of attacking talent that they have.
Geez, I saw the Oilers were shit and assumed in addition to their pathetic goaltending that McDavid was still injured…he’s been back for 2 weeks!
He might still be injured, his production has been pretty bad.

3 pts in 16 games. Slaf not much better in his 2nd year so far. How can a team fuck up their top picks so bad. Meanwhile its sick how lucky the Bruins run with their goalies.
I wouldn’t call it a bad pick yet. He’s only 19, and it’s not like there was a McDavid or Crosby in that draft that they could have taken 1st overall. If you could redraft 2022 today with the benefit of hindsight, who would you pick instead? Arguably Logan Cooley but it’s a toss up at best.
I think at the time Shane Wright was thought to go number 1 and a lot of Habs fans thought that Nemec would be a better choice. I know it was a difficult draft year with no clear consensus on the nr1 pick but if you puck somebody different you should better be right. So far its a disappointment. So far Anaheim can be happy. It would be a disappointment if we have to wait 4-5 years like it took Kotkaniemi or Lafreniere.

It sounds like this isn’t what happened. They won’t say what happened, but lots of people close to the organization are saying it’s not that.
Their steadfast refusal to say what happened means that there must be lawyers on all sides (Perry, the Blackhawks, the NHL) that are saying that it’s a liability issue if anybody says anything publicly about what happened. The league seems to be going through an existential crisis with gambling (Players gambling is WRONG! Fans, please hop on the app mid period to bet on if McDavid will get an assist in the next 3 minutes!) so that seems possible.

Still pretty vague, but sounds like he was drunk at the kind of work event that any regular employee might attend. People do lots of stupid stuff when they’re drunk, sounds like he crossed a line. Even just being exceedingly drunk could get you fired if you’re at an event with other employees and, in this case, sponsors of the team.
Maybe he was using his old pickup line.
