Yeah, I’m not seeing a deep run for the Rangers this year. It certainly didn’t help that they were shorthanded today. They could’ve used fresher legs in the 3rd period.

Igor has not been amazing this year but he obviously has it in him. A hot goalie is a tried and true way to run deep in the playoffs, and Igor absolutely can run hot and the Ranger become a serious contender. But can he run hot for 25 games/? To be seen.

Through a combination of skill and luck they have been otherworldly this season. They are second in goals for and first in goals against, it’s almost unheard of to be top of the league in both in the cap era.
It’s the NHL. They probably lose first round in 6

They’re middle of the pack or fringe top 10 in like every 5 on 5 team analytic. Seems like the most absurdly lucky season in history, and probably not even close.

They are actually giving up quite a bit more dangerous chances than they’re generating, lol
I went back 5 seasons and didn’t see a single other team with higher than 102.0 PDO (shooting% + save%). The Bruins are at 103.2
unless they play the leafs

Yeah, this seems correct. On a related note, the Canes have basically mastered the art of even strength play with a bit of bad luck (last time I looked). I would put them at least on an even footing with Boston in the playoffs, but who knows how the trade deadline will influence these teams going forward. Boston acquired some good pieces. Carolina’s pick ups are a bit more speculative.
