It indeed seems like he’s destined to be left hanging out for a nonfunctional Olympic torch mechanism to finally operate. Maybe it’ll rain on him during the ceremony rather than on the way to the real torch!

The rule does say “distinct kicking motion” so I think the ref is really taking liberties there and saying, hey, he didn’t like swing his foot at it but I know he intentionally pushed it in with his foot so I’m not giving it to him. I think calling that a no goal is in the spirit of the rule but maybe not the technical letter of the rule.
It’s hard to imagine Edmonton continuing to take down top teams with such bad goaltending. They will probably have Colorado next, even with McD it’s tough to outscore a stacked Colorado team with Smith giving them a softie or two every game.
These were considered goals. If this is the standard, the Flames got absolutely fucked.
I think it should have been counted as a goal, especially since it appeared the puck would have crossed the goal line under its own momentum anyway. There was a tiny little flick of the skate at the very end though, so I guess I see why they made the call they made, but yeah, there have been many more heinous examples of pucks kicked in the net that have been allowed to stand.

What a game. Thought Edmonton might pull it off after second field goal cut it to 7-6.
The whole series might be like this, Colorado is going to score and McDavid is unstoppable.

This is a few days old now but I just saw it.
Hard to argue with the logic that if God gives you the opportunity to throw something at Nazem Kadri, you’ve got to take it.
glad tb showed up for game 3, I don’t think we have enough to beat the rangers in 7, but I think game 4 is going to be great.
I think they can win it. But it’s still a tough climb, even if they win game 4 that’s still a best of 3 with two games in NY. But they’ve outplayed the Rangers for long stretches.
this was the first game in the series I saw the tb team I expected at the start of the series. I’m a bit more excited now. I was real pessimistic after game 2.
And another year wasted of Draisaitls prime. Without a real goalie and better depth this team will always fall short.
Choking is more contagious than Covid in Canada
I dont think that Edmonton was considered a favourite. They arent a complete team at all. Draisaitl and Mcdavid lead scoring by quite some margin right now but they have holes like a swiss cheese on defense. I think Carolina and Florida can be considered chokers after their regular seasons.
