The NHL Thread: It’s Back

This is some head standing.

Dang good game.

Wow. What a performance by Oettinger. I guess he can’t save them all.

Multiple 50 save games in a series, outshot by 20+ most games. Absurd.

Someone please PM me the next time there’s a game 7 in OT or tied in the 3rd period.

But really, please do.

What are Riverman’s weird allegiances? I only know Browns and Penguins, which is totally standard for a NE Ohio sports fan.

Geez, should have flipped to this game from the Warriors sooner

what an ending to game 2 tb vs fla. went absolutely crazy.

As expected Florida choking after having a great regular season. Must be really nice when your franchise hits homeruns in the middle first round and 2nd round. Would be nice if the Canadiens could pick 2 franchise cornerstones in back to back years like the Lightning with Stamkos and Hedman. But it seems this year its gonna be a forward and the elite player next year is also a forward but you have big holes on defense as well.

What a goal for Flames. Slapshot from own side and goalie didn’t even see it.

it was awesome to watch in real time. great game to watch.

I don’t know anything about hockey, but what is 25 doing on that play?

Probably tired, was going to go off but then saw one of like two guys in the world who regularly make that end to end rush attempt it and knew he had to make an effort on him, and it wasn’t a good one

Yeah, he looked gassed. There’s not much he can do there - he looks too tired to catch MacKinnon (who is one of the fastest skaters in the league) so he just swipes at him with his stick and prays.

Edit: I went back to the game video on this and it looks like 25 (Kyrou) comes on the ice at about 3:25. MacKinnon blows by him at 2:50 so Kyrou has only been on the ice there for 35 seconds. Before this shift he has last been on the ice at 4:46 remaining when he scored the goal on the PP to tie it. So, yeah, fine it’s toward the end the third period of a desperation playoff game so I’m sure he’s tired. But usually people don’t get look that burnt out until their shift runs up to about 60 seconds. Kyrou is an excellent skater overall, it looks like he just exhausted himself fighting for pucks in the offensive end in a tie game. Can’t really fault him for that I guess.

It’s in Colorado. He’s praying for oxygen.

Good point. Some home ice advantage there for sure.

I think the Flames just got jobbed by having that goal called back.

I instantly thought it was and didn’t get why the announcers didn’t see it.

Hate the rule, but its how it’s been applied for 20+ years
