How stupid what rule is? Do you think roughing the passer shouldnāt be a penalty? Or do you think that contact to the helmet or below the knee should be allowed?
Yeah the general rule is fine because the idea was to get pass rushers to focus on traditional tackling techniques and āwrapping upā the QB instead of trying to annihilate him, and a year or two of over-enforcing before pulling back might even have been the best way to accelerate that.
I think the clarification is fine, even if the language is vague Iām sure the refs look at a ton of past film and they pick it apart to say āthis should have been no flag, this one was fine, etc.ā
The stupidity was that if your fingernail brushes against Bradyās helmet you get penalized 15 yards

shame about becton, maybe his right knee just canāt handle a 6ā7 OL frame/weight. Which 99.x% of ours wouldnāt either.
I know he could surprise everybody with a comeback but man, itās downright impressive the number of Jets 1st/2nd round picks in the last fifteen years or so that wind up out of the league or on the scrap heap in a few years.

Last week, the NFL appointed Peter C. Harvey, a former New Jersey attorney general, to hear the appeal of Watsonās suspension for violations of the NFLās personal conduct policy. Goodell said Tuesday he did not know when Harvey would make a ruling.
They should ban him for 2023.
