You need a QB to do anything so, in the long run, sucking this year and drafting one of the good QBs is +EV anyways. I’d be most disappointed by going 9-8 and barely missing the playoffs.
Still can’t believe they let Russ go.
Are we allowed to talk about why the Vikings released him?
Potentially a worse first round outcome for the VIkings than Dimitrius Underwood
RIP HORNY TOAD
only Burrow or Stafford was taken in the top 5 who people would have above average as a starting QB right now so tanking is pointless
and Stafford well the lions didn’t get much out of that
the vikings missed their pick once and it’s not even a top 2 worst thing they did in the first round
Back when salaries were crazy for top draft picks, this arguably could have been a hyper-mega-elite shark move.
Guys definitely used to slide in the draft for salary reasons but straight up skipping a pick is a weird galaxy brain play.
Here’s my thought process. Let’s say you like a certain guy and you’re drafting 8th. You are 100% lead pipe lock sure that 9th pick team isn’t going to take your pick. Maybe you can try to trade down, but say that doesn’t work.
The when it’s your turn, let time run out and after the 9th team picks, then you submit your draft pick immediately. Your guy who you would have taken 8th is now 9th and you can justify paying them a bit less.
The cost savings isn’t as much as it would have been in the past, IIRC.
the vikings did end up paying slightly less (though not the full amount of the drop, somewhere in between)
but also won by picking later, they got the better player each time
this feels like george costanza came up with it
Frick. 38 years old.
My son played against his little brother (Dom) in the MN district playoffs. Marion may have been the same class as Laurinitas.
marion was always a bit messed up but never like hearing athletes you just watched play croak like that, sadly my only memory of him is the time he didn’t fall in bounds and his team lost the game cause of it.
I went to Armstrong in Plymouth the same time they were playing so he was a big deal, I didn’t play football but I seem to remember playing baseball against some of the Barbers.
We were MG. I think we were in conference with the northern towns, not the westerns.
Son got a hit off of Stocco(?) who ended up as Wiscy starting QB. He missed playing against Maurer by a year.
Barber III’s death sounds like suicide. Probably CTE but ESPN has too cushy a deal with the NFL to bring up those three letters.
