Right - make the kid publicly identified himself as the person who used the f-slur if he wants a check. I could see Penn State deciding to take some sort of action against him as it probably violates their honor code (e.g., banning him from future games).

What I don’t know if you see in that video above is he took the phone with him. I saw another angle and he smashes the phone then picks it up and walks off.
We hope no police/DA are going to pursue any charges here if the kid even filed a report.
Meh, I’m lukewarm on it being ok to grab someone’s phone and smash it then pick up the pieces and take it. Even if they said mean stuff first. Those things cost like more than a thousand bucks now.
Hopefully reason will prevail and he’ll buy the kid a new phone, or if it has to enter the legal system some dumb misdemeanor seems fine with restitution.
