The NFL Thread 2: 1. T Swift

The actually good trade would have been Jake Browning in the offseason.

Or getting Fields.

Looks like the correct answer was Jonnu Smith

i had all the wrong answers this slate. And the Rams just stuck it in me even harder by lying about Jordan Whittington status for absolutely no reason.

I’ve got Whittington and JuJu in my cash/head to head lineups :harold: No Jayden at least so I’ve got a shot.

I hated seeing what the NFL did with the kickoff return. Saw it tonight at the Steelers/Jets game. When you have something that works, don’t “tinker” with it, you may end up with nothing!

Hey Myles, pretty sure your fans hate Watson for what he does on the field as well as what he does off of it. And I don’t know why you are saying something about living in glass houses and not throwing stones unless you’re also sexually assaulting massage therapists. Like it’s OK to judge criminals for the crimes they did, especially if they were serial criminals who don’t show remorse over their crimes. Not all imperfections are equal.

And Jameis, Desean isn’t putting his life on the line for this city. He’s playing a sport for 230 million guaranteed because the owner of your franchise in this city was dumb enough to offer it to him.

Browns fans have to boo him. Otherwise everyone rightfully views them as rape sympathizers.

Feels like it’s sexist that dude who run on the field are fair game to get levelled and women who do it get the kid gloves treatment. White guys in this country who get drunk and run out onto sports fields just can’t get a fair break

A moronic take as expected on the “something that works” part (it didn’t), but at the moment the new rule sucks too. Teams seem to be more than fine kicking it a mile and leaving the other team at the 30.

You’ll probably see one special teams coach actually try to work on a good strat, having their placekicker practice landing it in the zone, mixing up line drive kicks and high hang-time ones…and then that team will give up a 98-yard return once, and they’ll shut everything down and go back to blasting it out of the EZ like everyone else.

The only crime Browns fans are booing him for is the crime of being bad at football now.

Which tbh they should because one free touchdown is worth like 100 “ooh look we tackled em a few yards short of the 30s”.

I might agree, but really only if the average starting spot for all the returns winds up being around the 27 or some nonsense. I think when you figure in the inevitable holding/block-in-the-back calls on the returns you might be able to do quite a bit better than that, plus there’s some angle-shooting to be done with the rule about balls that skip into the EZ and then get downed going to the 20.

I admit you’d need a kicker with some finesse and a ST coach that actually gives a shit to make it work. As it stands now, I could see this being a one-year experiment before getting rid of the KO completely (which would suck), or maybe they give it one more shot moving the touchback spot to the 35 or something first.

I have legit no clue what the numbers say about drives that start on the 30 vs. the 20 in order to legit evaluate this, so I’m just going by feels. You surely could be right, but it definitely seems solvable to compare return outcomes to starting field position scoring probabilities.

Do you think teams should basically always run it out instead of kneeling for the touchback?

Maybe it should be something like 25 for a touchback, unless you kick it out of the end zone, in which case it is 35.

ALL THE INJURIES

How many do we have already this season of guys who signed gigadeals and then promptly died? Tua, Aiyuk, Watson, who else? Did Hutchinson get paid before this season?
