lol desperation. perhaps a second rounder and 36 milly for the next two years? Poor guy, his QB situation probably just got worse too.
Rodgers only has one good year left (if that) so who cares about the next two years. Adams is cheap this year, so I guess roll the dice that he and Rodgers revert back to their GB forms and somehow sneak into the playoffs. It the price they paid when they decided to hitch their wagon to an aging Rodgers - could have drafted a QB and been a young up-and-coming team with all that talent, but instead went for the two year window hoping Rodgers could get them a ring.
They tried that twice in the last 6 years and failed miserably both times. I gotta give them credit for realizing they canât evaluate young QBs for shit and tried a different (but also hilariously bad) route.
I mean theyâre probably no worse than anybody else at evaluating QBs, itâs just proven to be a total crapshoot and theyâve ran bad.
The lack of a supporting cast doesnât help either; their one âgoodâ QB they missed out on this past decade (by accidentally winning an extra game) was TLaw, and as meh as heâs been in Jacksonville, if the Jets draft him heâs probably head-scratchingly mediocre for four years and then they let him walk.
The QB position in the NFL is so weird right now. When I look at every starting QB in the league, outside of Mahomes and Rodgers, they all look like they could be SB winners or complete busts based on the teams they went to. Some are probably objectively bad, but guys killing it like Purdy, Goff, Geno, Darnold, itâs just wild. I would trust none of those guys to carry a mediocre team. And if they played for a trash org theyâd probably be out of the league in 2 years.
It does seem like with Baker, Goff, Darnold, Geno thereâs like a 5 year learning curve for a lot of guys to get to franchise QB status. The drafting team is never waiting that long if the QB is playing from day 1. Maybe there will be a trend of teams trying more reclamation projects, or doing what the Falcons did this year.
This plus they need to be on the right team, in the right situation.
Alex Smith was never going to be as good as Rodgers, but he became a good NFL QB after being in shit situation for a long time. In the meantime, Rodgers got to sit and learn for three years and then have a good team around him pretty quickly (not his first starting year).
I am guessing his hamstring miraculously heals on the flight to Newark
Jets gonna hire Mike McCarthy in 2 weeks? Might as well.
Browns take away Massage Boyâs only weapon, bold strategy!
meh, fire sale was obviously coming. got a 3rd for a guy used a 5th for. and two 1000 yard years in between.
Only worth a 3rd because he comes at effectively a 0$ salary for the rest of the year.
i mean, does it matter why they got a 3rd?
by the time the browns are ready to compete for the division again, cooper wonât matter. and his salary this year definitely doesnât matter.
They should be asking for 2028 draft picks lol
2028 is what they should be aiming for, yes.
i mean, weâre browns fans. tell us weâre rebuilding til we can figure out how to get rid of deshaun. trade everyone that doesnât have the last name of Garrett or Chubb, draft boring linemen, let Jameis go have some fun and make watson watch.
thatâs a better time than whatever the fuck theyâve been doing this year.
More like it matters why the Bills gave a third. Good return for the Browns, with the 0$ salary decent stab for the Bills imo.
My Magic 8-Ball suggests Deshaun Watson will soon suffer a mysterious season ending injury.
