Joe Posnanski took pleasure in pointing out in his Substack this morning that, after going 2-3 with 91 points scored last year with Zach Wilson under center, this year’s Jets under Rodgers are
2-3 with 91 points scored.

FWIW winning seems to alleviate some of this stuff. The Chiefs used to get fucked by the refs all the time back when the Broncos were still owning us.

I think the Lions are on the path. They just need to not have one good year out of every 10. One Superbowl appearance might be enough.

But yes, the Lions have gotten historically screwed by anyone’s standards.

The “Fail Mary”

The two other big ones I remember against the Packers were both in the playoffs (Fail Mary was regular season). Jerry Rice fumbled but it wasn’t called (no replay at the time IIRC), which led to the famous last-minute Terrell Owens TD. Then there was the big shootout against Arizona and Kurt Warner in Rodgers’ earlier years. He was sacked for fumble TD in an attempt at a go-ahead drive at the end, but an obvious facemask wasn’t called (that one wasn’t as bad as the Rice non-fumble, as the Packers weren’t guaranteed a successful drive).
