If Rodgers is behind it, this is particularly stupid, because they promoted the DC to interim HC to replace the already defensively-minded Saleh. What does he stand to gain from this other than getting to watch everything burn?
Maybe he likes watching things burn
Rodgers doesnāt strike me as the type of guy who thinks more than one step ahead TBH.
Serious question for those who follow this team more than I do. On a % basis, how much of the Jets recent issues is Saleh being a bad coach vs. the Jets just being an absolute tire fire of an organization?
I canāt tell if he is a good head coach or not. Itās just hard to tell with everything else.
lol their defense has been incredible and they brought in Rodgers handpicked OC, what a fucking scumbag POS this asshole is
I donāt think heās a bad coach and will surely get another good job.
Garbage organizations with many consecutive years of sub-top-25 qb play leaves behind a wake of coaching destruction.
Like, I legitimately donāt see any difference between Aaron Rodgers and Mike White. Sam Darnold is FAR better than Rodgers, Derek Carr too. Heās maybe an Andy Dalton comp at this point? 30th best qb on the planet?
Pro Football Reference says Saleh has only won 5 challenges in 56 games. Only challenged 10 calls. I have to assume those stats arenāt accurately trackedā¦ā¦
BB to jets would be objectively hilarious
Yeah when the Jets signed him, he was coming off a meh season but still only a year removed from an MVP season, so Iām sure everyone was crossing their fingers and saying āplz age like Brady plz age like Bradyā, I guess given the QB hell theyād been in for years it wasnāt the most crazy gamble.
But then last year happened, and on top of all the rust heās multiple steps slower than he was, taking his running ability totally out of the equation and also causing him to take a beating every single week (he looked dead after that play where he got bent back this week, he wound up coming right back in but thatās gonna bother him and slow him down more for weeks, because heās fucking 40).
Heās still competent and could maybe be the missing piece for a team with an elite OL where he could play the game in a tuxedo if he wanted, but that aināt the case in NY.
Jest back in prime time this week baby!!
My nephew is a huge Jets fan
(Must get it from his Momās side of the family, as we are all Bengals fans)
(Ok, maybe the kid was doomed from the start)
And heās overjoyed at Saleh being fired
Itās all deck chair rearrangement on the Titanic if youāre a Jets fan. They were gonna be OK at best this year, will probably be a total mess now, and Rodgers is either gonna retire or leave after the season even if you cater to his every whim.
Talk about full circle.
Since turnovers and scores got auto reviewed, a LOT of games go by without a single challenge flag being thrown (except that weird season where PI was reviewable).
My take is that 5/10 is actually a pretty good win rate, but if I were a coach I would probably challenge close plays a lot more often. While timeouts are valuable, so often a high impact close play, even a 10% chance of an overturn feels like itās worth more than the TO. I donāt think coaches are throwing enough flags.
Huh, contrary to our eyes and everything weāve seen, it looks like the Jets are willing to do anything to protect their quarterback. Even if the threat just exists in his mind.
ā¦and also egregious stuff getting pre-emptively overturned via the āexpeditedā reviews. Plus I think turnover on downs plays were also added to the auto-review this year (not 4th-down makes, though).
Basically with all of the above, thereās never any reason for a coach to be gun-shy about throwing the flag other than burning a 2nd-half TO he might need. Being worried about getting all your challenges right so that you get a third one shouldnāt be a consideration at all, itās gonna be super rare that youād need to challenge three plays in a game.
