Posted this in the Gameday thread, but will x-post the same thought here.
I very much hated those Pats teams, but I quite enjoy watching the Chiefs play and win. I donāt root for a rival of either, so I donāt feel Iām biased towards or against either. Perhaps itās the creativity and entertainment value of Mahomes. Iād be entertained watching that win 6-7 trophies, vs. statue Bardy never getting touched and being frustrated that nobody ever gets close to disrupting him. Chiefs also look like theyāre having fun, have some personalities - coach included - vs. the robotic nature of the Patriots dynasty.
Plus the cheating. I assume Iād feel differently about the Chiefs if they were found to be cheating, too.
I donāt hate the Chiefs either. I did when the Seahawks were in the AFC West, but that was an eternity ago now and those feelings have faded. Tough to muster all that much hate when I donāt find either the head coach or the QB unlikable, and when there isnāt a reason like division rivalry (or a WOAT-level fanbase like Chowder Nation) to stoke potential hate. That said, I donāt tend to root for them either if the opponent is an acceptable one to me to root for, purely because rooting for them can be kinda boring despite the high-quality football they play.

Same here - while I find them likeable and am totally fine watching them win a lot, I wouldnāt say I root for them at all. I just donāt root hard for their opponent, like I did with the Pats teams.

Butker is a woman hating cult bigot. Pat really needs to pull the rip cord and resist going down the dark hole of becoming a complainer and keep being the fun improviser guy.

Yeah heās an idiot. But it would definitely be a first for me to hate a team because of their kicker, and if I did it in this case then I would just be reaching for a rational reason to hate the Chiefs when the real reason is resentment of success.
NFL rosters in general arenāt going to pass purity tests if you sort through all 22 starters and even the additional specialists. There are a select number of players who are the face of their franchises along with the head coaches, and then there are a much larger number who arenāt.
