I’m on a work trip to Germany right now. It’s amazing how many colleagues want to talk about NFL and are planning to take the day after Super Bowl Sunday off work so they can stay up.
They’re really loving this story line of mr irrelevant being undefeated.
South Korea has a lot of American soldiers stationed there.
South Korea was once a popular destination for Christian missionaries. So they were very much exposed to American culture through that.
Brazil is definitely the surprise of the list for me. Hell, even Spain is. I lived in Spain for 3 years and I had to go through hell to find a place that aired NFL games and I was often the only one at the bar watching when they aired.
What I wonder for those international fans is how much of that includes the American diaspora. Or if they just focused on people born in the country
Every time I see a statistic or graph featuring Brazil, I am stunned at its size, in terms of both geography and population. It’s absolutely huge, and then I instantly forget until the next time I get another reminder.
the northern tip of brazil is closer to canada than it is the southern tip of brazil
I blame the mercator projection for not knowing this stuff, people think greenland is huge all for no good reason cause someone put it that way on the maps
The stats show self-identified NFL fans which encompasses a broad spectrum from “I watch the Superbowl when I can” to “I watch some games a week, follow all the news, post about it online and play in several fantasy football leagues”
“They’ll get worse every year until they die” made me lol, it just made me imagine them getting disbanded and stricken from the league after a bunch of 0-17 seasons or something.
This is a seven plus year old article, but I never read it before and had some interesting behind the scenes info on mediocre qbs and mediocre coaches.
