It is looking like Trevor is the next Tim Couch. I still believe Tim Couch would have been an All-Pro QB if he wasn’t drafted by a terrible franchise…but yeah…
That being said, Jamarcus Russell still stands alone.

I don’t know about biggest ever, but he sure looks like a clear bust.
Where are all the people who were hyping him before hand? I forget who they all were but I’m pretty sure @R.C was one of them. Anyone still think Lawrence isn’t a bust?
Keeping in mind that he is on a perpetually awful team I think it’s probably too early to consider him a bust.
What’s the metric for being a bust anyway? Meeting the expectations of a 1st overall pick? 1st round pick? NFL starting QB? He met none of those, granted, but he might still get there.
Yeah, I’m not willing to call a QB of his pedigree thrown into the biggest shitshow of the NFL this season, a team lacking in talent and with a horrible coach who was in the news for a new trainwreck weekly, a bust.
I’d still banhammer Lafleur for COY for the FG decision vs TB last January. Such a stupid decision. He can’t be considered a good coach for a full year because of that.
I mean Aaron even got trolled about it while hosting J!
Eh, it’s not like Rodgers covered himself in glory in that sequence, it was a horribly QB’d three plays prior to the field goal. Repeated forcing of a ball to Adams.
Still doesn’t make the 4th down decision correct.
lol basically everyone was hyping him
Didn’t say it did - but if we want to prevent Lafleur from winning CotY based on something he did last season, wouldn’t Rodgers’ complete failure on that series weigh for MVP?
Or course not. It looks like Lafleur learned from his error, he’s been terrific this year. Same with Rodgers.
Literally every football expert, same as Jamarcus.
I was just being facetious. I think
Lafleur and Sirianni are great nfc candidates.
GB excellence pretty much the whole season after Game 1
Eagles big turn around after 2-5
Rams, Bucs, Niners, Cardinals too inconsistent.
If the Saints make it in, then Peyton as a dark horse. Smoke and mirrors down on the bayou.
I would draw the line at “Starting QB you could win a Super Bowl with,” for a #1 overall pick QB, so, someone like an Eli, Derek Carr, Stafford, Ryan, etc. tier, where you may not win the Super Bowl because of them, but they can get you there. Any worse than that is a pretty huge disappointment for a #1. Lawrence doesn’t look like he’s there right now, but his college performance is so impressive that he deserves another chance with a decent head coach.
Bust for him is going to be anything short of top 10 QB in the league imo. He was supposed to be a can’t miss prospect like Manning, Luck, Elway, etc.
Can’t let a shitty rookie year declare someone a bust. Elway, E. Manning, and Aikman had shitty rookie seasons. Hell Peyton led the league in interceptions in his rookie year.
It wasn’t even that bad of a decision. I had the same immediate reaction as you, but people overvalue getting to overtime.
Terry Bradshaw - 6 TDs, 24 INTs, 38% completions
Most recently Josh Allen‘s first season was comparable to Trevor Lawrence‘s. Now he is a top 5 QB. He was „only“ the 7th overall pick but expectations must have been higher than a sub 70 QB rating.
Trevor Lawrence hasn’t played for an NFL team yet. Well ok maybe just not an NFL coach.
Allen is really fun because he’s everything good football men™ loved (big, strong arm, some intangible bullshit) and football Twitter hated (dumb, slow progressions, bad accuracy). I like the circle jerk of smart internet sports fans to fail sometimes. Makes for some variety.
Also I feel like everybody falls into the same trap the announcers do and they’re like “herp derp 8 points, that’s a one-possession game” as if the 2pc is a given, which obviously it’s not. Half the time you need two scores there, so given the distance to go on 4th down I think the FG was actually pretty obviously correct.
If Rodgers tucks the ball in and runs to the 2 on 3rd down like he could/should have, though, it’s another story.
