Jones?!

Edit: thought you meant Mac Jones and thought that was a little harsh haha

Yeah, I meant Daniel. However, does anyone not think that if we just switched Daniel and Mac, in the preseason Pats and Giants have pretty much the same record as they do now. Giants still suck and Belichick works his magic to come up with a system to get the most out of D. Jones.

I mean yeah huge amount of young QB success comes down to Coaching/supporting cast (especially OL) but I think Mac has generally (not today) looked far more promising than the other rookies this year.

Great question for Bill

Mac Jones since trademarking ā€œMJ10ā€: 2 TDs, 4 INTs, 1-2 record, while averaging 153 passing yards per game.

ESPN has a strange playoff picture blurb for the Packers at the moment:

ā€œThe Packers faced a pretty wild and divergent set of circumstances on Saturday night.ā€

Hmm. I didnā€™t know that. What could have happened? Sounds interesting!

ā€œHad the Browns completed their comeback and left Lambeau Field with a win, the Packers would have faced the strong possibility of falling out of the top seed in the NFC.ā€

Ok, sure. Yes, they were only a game up in the standings. So they could have fallen out of the top seed and because of these ā€œwild and divergentā€ circumstances tumbled all the way to what, the fourth seed or something?

ā€œAll it would have taken was the Cowboys winning a home game against Washington, an outcome that would have elevated the Cowboys to No. 1.ā€

So these ā€œwild and divergentā€ circumstances were just the Packers losing and the Cowboys winning to have the two teams swap spots? WILD AND DIVERGENT. SO WILD. The circumstances could have diverged with a Packers loss. My god, how wacky.

In the almost 100 year history of the NFL, the Eagles finally won a Tuesday gameā€¦.

September 26, 1944 ā€“ Philadelphia Eagles 28, Boston Yanks 7

this was a tuesday

Huh. The local media could only refer to the game in 2010 or
Whatever

Not even remotely fun fact: The Yanks were the same team Norm Van Brocklin set the single game passing record against (I only know this because I happened to check out the list to see where Burrow landed after yesterday). The more you know ===*

Packers placed four players on the COVID list, including Rodgers.

Amari Rodgers

I am all for renaming the patriots the Boston Yanks.

In this era of passing, Iā€™m amazed that this record hasnā€™t been broken.

I feel like the best recent-ish chance was Romoā€™s 506 in that wacky 51-48 loss against Denver in 2013. If he doesnā€™t throw a pick early on that last drive he probably shatters the record, defenses were getting gashed on both sides all day.

Ian Book is the guy who got roflstomped by Clemson right?

IIRC if the Brady hail mary in the SB against the Eagles had been caught, that would have broken the record.

Fun (?) bit of trivia: Ian Book will be the first QB drafted by the Saints to start a game for them since ____.
