We can thank that Steelers defense (Mel Blount in particular) for giving us the NFL as we know it today. Prior to that rule change passing across the middle was basically impossible. It’s honestly amazing there weren’t more deaths back then.

lol, I was thinking of responding to Suzzer’s post with that exact fact. From 78 to 79, Blount went from all pro to old man. For him, was more the clutching and grabbing at the line off the snap.
