Literally no one is saying RB’s don’t have value.

I mean I was responding to a post that was discussing the importance of the pick and it being a good one. So I’m really lost on where you are coming from and apologize for that.

Maybe the trend will flip and elite RB’s will be what leads teams to Super Bowls.

Saquan might be the best RB in the game. I still think it’s a mistake to draft him in the top 5 picks.

Is Bolles good? I got the impression he’s been struggling in his career so far. Or did you just pick him because offensive tackle is valuable and someone probably would’ve made that pick in this scenario?

Anyway, a lot of people confuse “rushing production is often replicable with late picks or undrafted free agents” with “No RB matters.” I mean even if you try to staff your running back depth chart cheaply, you still gotta find the right guys.

I’m not arguing for a RB in the Top 5. My list literally is the best QBs from the draft, the elite defensive players and the elite OL talent. But after those are gone I would draft the best offensive weapons. Whether that is RB or WR, you have to find ways to efficiently gain yardage. And there is no doubt that the 5-15 yard range has so much value in football right now.

Bolles has improved a lot from what I’ve seen. But I felt like he was the best OL from the draft. That’s what I was going by.

Personally I think there’s an infinite amount of athletes that can get you that yardage

There are loads of great athletes obvs, but the superiority of a select few is measurable. Then it’s just a matter of talent-differential evaluation, and if the organization believes they’d be better served with a certain player for team composition or cap purposes.

Derrius Guice, Ray Rice, Lawrence Phillips. The player has to be well-rounded and possess a level of maturity. There’s no going down to the local combine and finding some otherwise totally equal rando, willing to work for markedly less than his peers. And this filtration of the best talent starts at a young age.

All of this is obvs.

The sheer amount you have to pay a running back alone does not justify an early pick. Saquon got nearly 8M/year on a fully guaranteed contract. At that time, he became the 2nd highest paid running back in the NFL without playing a down.

Meanwhile, you could draft somebody like Joe Burrow and pay him 9M/year while Alex Smith is a 3rd stringer for 23M/year. From 2013-2016, Chase Daniel got paid $17,000,000 to throw a grand total of 71 passes.

So, I’m assuming HS football doesn’t have the same rules as NFL about advancing fumbles at the end of a game?
