The Last Dance: A 10 part documentary on MJ's final title season

I love it. It was always going to be sympathetic to Jordan, they need his approval. But he’s been incredibly engaging in the interviews and is obviously just a different breed. And smart.

My favorite part of this series is Costas wearing more makeup than Andrea Kremer.

Also, sports reporters from the 1990s were so much better than today.

Craig Sager with the GOAT question to piss off Jerry Krause. I wonder if MJ put him up for it.

I really don’t see any plausible defense for Krause.

while it was really goddamn stupid he let his ego get the way, the contrarian view is for awhile he mostly didn’t fuck it up, traded for pippen, got grant in the same draft, got a ridic team value contract from pippen. Kukoc would’ve been a lot higher regarded if they already didn’t have two hall of famers during his prime (though his game was better suited to today’s game as a big who could shoot) and krause mostly beat everyone to the hey some of these euros can actually play well enough over here movement. Got pieces that mostly fit the team. Correctly fired collins for phil jackson.

Carmen Electra is doing a great job in the battle vs Father Time.

Fantastic fucking series. Was wondering if they would touch on MJ’s Wizards days, but glad they didn’t. Jordan’s last 98 shot is one of the few sports moments I remember where I was, that didn’t involve my team.

Why am I just now made aware of this thread??!? I hate you all.

I love this show. But I haven’t watched 9 & 10 yet. I’ve been watching it while I do my exercise bike. The time just flies by.

The music I think is my favorite part. Just perfect.

Also I really want to buy this on DVD for my Dad - who loved Jordan and the Bulls and only has a DVD player and broadcast TV. You gotta figure they’ll release it on DVD right?

Even though I get DVD is dying

gotta be 100% right

Hey disphit disruptive marketing tech bro geniuses, instead of the 43rd mattress subscription D2C startup on my FB feed - how about “Just in time for Father’s Day - Last Dance on DVD!”

Not sexy enough, I know.

Whatever happened to Karl Malone? He seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth since he retired. Always seemed like a very weird dude.

The fact that when he was in college he got a 12 year-old pregnant (and then disowned the kid) might have something to do with him disappearing from public life. Don’t thin he can just pop onto ESPN or TNT without causing a stir.

Damn I was not aware of this holy shit

Perhaps Malone’s absence from public life has also saved Jimmy Kimmel’s career

He’s also always been basically a Louisiana redneck. He’s probably retired to a huge ranch to play with pick up trucks.

Not only that but that kid played for the Buffalo Bills. Demetress Bell.

Malone’s publicist obviously did a great job burying this story. Never heard of the guy.

I was reading his wikipedia and I stumbled upon this interesting nugget:

“Bell, who spelled his first name ‘Demetrius’ until 2012, when he learned his name was actually spelled ‘Demetress’”

No clue why, but they handled Reinsdorf with kids gloves regarding his role in ending the dynasty. His explanation that the Bulls were all about to become expensive was mostly bs. Other than Pippen, none of the Bulls were in for a big pay increase. IIRC, he specifically mentioned Kerr, Rodman, Harper, and Longley (in addition to Pippen). However, none of those got a big increase"

Kerr - $750k to $1.8 million
Rodman - $4.5 million to $1 million
Harper - under contract for one more year, after which he took a big pay cut
Longley - $3.2 to $4

Basically, it all came down to not wanting to pay Pippen, Jordan, and Jackson big money. Yeah, Jackson said no to returning, but that is after telling him for an entire year he’s done, and then it wasn’t even clear if Jackson returned, Reinsdorf would pay to keep the rest of the team.

I’m sure the Bulls were raking in so much $ that Reinsdorf could have paid them all and at least broke even, but it seemed he’d rather gut the team and make big $ (I’m guess quite a few fans had season tickets locked in and TV contract was locked in) than try for another title.

I feel like they should have devoted at least half the last episode to why the Bulls broke up, rather than one quote from Reinsdorf with no follow up, and then just showing Jordan’s reaction.
