Maybe a better q is what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought using only your phone

I bought a used honda civic from carvana a few years ago, I don’t remember for sure but I think I did it on the phone.

I won’t buy from carvana again but that’s due to other reasons

You have to remember that Gen Z’s idea of a “big ticket” purchase is like a PS5 or something.

Call me old, but desktop>phone for just about anything. Definitely for major purchases.

Probably $850 (or whatever the limit is) worth of Predictit shares.

Probably a few $k worth of stonks. Or maybe a plane ticket if we’re using cash value of a plane ticket I bought with frequent flyer miles.

Probably some jpegs

If you define “big ticket” as something you wouldn’t impulse buy that would put me at $700, I’ve snap purchased $500 pens before and am not ashamed to admit it. My phone isn’t very big so I don’t use it for shopping, why use a tiny screen when I can use a 27" in screen instead?

Video gif. A woman pulls on Nick Young's arm, trying to hold his hand. Nick looks at her with confusion, but is trying to be polite. The camera zooms on his face and turns to look stare into the camera with a big confused grin on his face. Question marks appear around his head.

I don’t think I’ve purchased many expensive things with my phone. I did buy an enormous TV from Amazon wayyyy back when that was an unusual thing to do - it was long enough ago that somebody actually placed a phone call to schedule delivery.

probably a better way to phrase what i really wanted to ask was, “how often does one make ‘a big ticket purchase’?”

i could see an answer being, “once a year, sometimes twice a year” but i also kind of think “once every 10 years” could fit the definition

Since most websites now have about one square inch of usable site area and the rest floating banners, I’d generally like to view something on my computer before pulling the trigger. Researching is also a million times easier on a computer, and I’m not usually pulling the trigger on a bigger ticket item w/o some research.

On the iphone? $1100 laptop for the kid who just went to college for engineering. But I was late to the smartphone game.
Spent way more over the internet via wired PC (20k car/8k motorcycle etc) and tbh I don’t know the difference between an iphone purchase or a wired PC purchase - is there some difference I should be aware of…? It’s just the internet, right?

Yeah, this. If I’m buying something major I’ll usually have like 8 tabs open across three screens with different info about it, reviews, reddit discussions, etc.

Yeah; I do a ton of research as well. It’s def easier w the big screen + tabs - but you can eventually scratch it out on the small screen too.

Shots fired.

Dumb twat writing shitty clickbait article!

Yeah, no, I didn’t read his shit article obv. I’m not giving him the click.
Snap reaction from headline…going w my gut on this one. Think I’m probably correct.

I don’t actually tend to buy much from my phone. Maybe some books from Amazon every now and then. When I order stuff online it’s usually from my laptop, partly because having a keyboard makes filling stuff out easier.

But for really big purchases (appliances, furniture) I like to go to a brick and mortar store and see things for myself. My wife makes fun of me for that sometimes.
