I’m trying to understand the logic of thinking he’s untouchable. Is it because you feel that at the end of the day a conclusion will be reached that a former president cannot or must not be indicted? Because literally everything else is leading to an eventual indictment. I know y’all think I’m so naive, but I can’t even think of a scenario where it doesn’t happen

I’m actually kind of in agreement that an indictment is certainly possible. Garland is not making it easier for himself by repeatedly stating that “no one is above the law”. Though he’s kind of a milk toast guy, I just don’t picture him coming back and saying “well actually, Donald Trump is above the law, but nobody else”. I think the biggest concern about indicting Trump is the normalization of indicting former Presidents. Given the Republicans’ appetite for revenge, it seems highly likely that the U.S. would devolve into one of those countries where ex-leaders are indicted, assassinated or exiled, and Garland is reluctant to tip that domino.
