The Former Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Volume XI: The Crypt Keeper Years

is that normal?

Trump literally just made it up. Dude is clowning everyone today, skates on bribery errrr emoluments, then saddles us with the cost of a bullshit office he just invented.

I don’t think the US government is actually paying for this, think it’s just an office at Maralago with a few staffers being paid with grifter money?

The US government is paying for it.

Who knew “fuck you, stop me” would continue working after trying to overthrow the government. Awesome country.

What happened in Ohio? I don’t get it. How did this state become as red as the Dakotas? Seems like they have a lot of Qanon types there as well.

Or is it there isn’t enough liberal big cities to carry the rest of the state?

The short answer is is full of racist idiots who spend 4-12 hours a day mainlining propaganda on Facebook while young smart people flee at the first opportunity because of the racist idiots described above.

But I did read that the GAO funds staffing for former presidents. So at least we are paying for some of it.

Ohio isn’t as red as the Dakotas. It’s closer to being as red as Florida. Good candidates still have a shot at being competitive in statewide races. The 2018 governor’s’ election was Mike DeWine 50.4%-Richard Cordray 46.7%. The House delegation is incredibly tilted towards Republicans because of gerrymandering. The Democratic bench is thin and there’s a lack of good candidates to run for statewide office.

We might be looking at Tim Ryan vs Jim Jordan in the 2022 Senate race. Jordan seems beatable because he seems very capable of doing something dumb to torpedo his campaign, but is Ryan the guy to beat him?

I grew up in a very liberal pocket of Cleveland. Columbus leans liberal due to the college. Cincinnati may as well be in Kentucky. The rest of the state is rural, poor, and desperate. Haven’t lived there in forever but I suspect gerrymandering, a loss of manufacturing jobs, and other factors have tilted the state irrevocably red over the years.

Loss of union jobs.

It’s irrelevant. I could make up the same office right now. In fact, I am doing so as we speak.

Of course there are but the Dems would rather blow all their money chasing after white diner patrons in suburbs of Youngstown than minorities in downtown Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati.

Biden won 57% of Hamilton County. Cincinnati doesn’t have a Democratic representative because it’s been split up in a ridiculous gerrymander. See the shape of district 1. (See also the shape of district 9, nicknamed the “snake on the lake”, which is held together by a single bridge at its narrowest point.)

Fun fact: my grandfather operated a diner in suburban Youngstown.

I doubt it. He was as conservative as they come, but made a great fllet mignon.

In other Ohio restaurant news, Portman’s retirement made me find out that his family owns the Golden Lamb, where I once had a birthday dinner when I was maybe in the 10-12 age range.

Holy, and I can’t stress this enough, Fuck.
