The Former Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Volume XI: The Crypt Keeper Years

Yes. Unless they abolished the filibuster… lol.

Yeah, honestly, i thought we might end up with just mittens and nobody else again.

Mitch gave the speech to get the corporate money flowing again while trying to get a prosecutor to do the donors’ dirty work for them in nuking Trump.

You would think people would know better than to even consider that Mitch McConnell is ever acting to do anything but gain power and advance the interests of (very) rich people, but here we are.

Can someone explains to me why Mitch just didn’t vote to convict if that’s what he truly believes.

He pretty old, so he’s likely not running again. Even if he is, he’s Mitch fucking McConnell. KY isn’t voting him out especially w/ 6 years to forget. He and his wife are also rich AF. They’re set and don’t need to worry about their post Govt jobs.

Is he that afraid that if he goes back to KY that people are going to start protesting outside his home in KY? Because that’s the only downside I see, and if that’s really a problem he can just move somewhere else after his term is up. I doubt Elaine is a fan of living in KY anyway.

Very real chance he loses his leadership position.

Maybe. I guess I could see that being a legit motivation.

But you have to have pretty big balls to threaten Mitch with that. “You come at the King, you best not miss” and all.

Good chance he retires to suburban DC, but yeah, pretty legit chance some Qanon lunatic takes a shot at him. What’s the upside of doing the right thing for Mitch? He doesn’t gaf about basic integrity or the continuing destruction of our politics.

Listening to him say this, I thought the emphasis McMitch put on the last word was interesting. Who was that for?

Mitch probably wants criminal charges vs Trump.

Oh for sure man

I’d like to believe that. And I’d like to believe he will do things to make it happen. Can’t seem to manage it so I don’t know what to think.

You seriously don’t know what to think about Mitch McConnells desire to prosecute republicans?

I seriously don’t know what to think about what he said and how he said it. I stop there.

Oh I don’t think he wants it because Trump is guilty. He wants it because it will cost Trump money and tie him up in court for years. He definitely doesn’t want Trump running in 2024.

I thought I heard McConnell wants to regain his party’s donors and that’s why he unloaded on Trump. Its going to be interesting to follow the money over the next few years.

Of course Mitch wants Trump prosecuted by a Democratic lead DOJ, would juice turnout for the 2022 midterms! R voters thrive on a good persecution complex story, and what better way than to actually be prosecuted?

It’s all politics, this statement costs Mitch absolutely nothing. Mitch knows that all that will matter in the big picture is he voted No on impeachment and if Trump is ever actually prosecuted, it will be those meanie Ds that did that.

And when Trump is not prosecuted Mitch will just point to this meaningless statement and say hey I was all for him being prosecuted… guess Biden’s DOJ didn’t have the balls to do it… go talk to him.
