It’s so sad that there will be no repercussions for this clownsel just spewing complete bullshit non-stop.

And as always with Republicans, it’s all projection.

same thing when mitch mcconnell filibustered his own bill

Whoa, clownsel telling the Senate to get down to some Democratic business.

The democrats control the senate. They absolutely had the ability to limit what the republicans can do, but they are completely incompetent and incapable.

They voted to have witnesses but then said no witnesses. That is dumb, and indefensible and a clear sign nobody knows what they are doing.

This has to be up there with one of the worst things I’ve ever listened to.

Yeah problem is they are fucking that up too. People need to stop pretending the democrats are going to stumble into competency.

It’s not about the trial. It’s about the total incompetence of the democrats at every single turn.

Biden doesn’t want to deal with the impeachment. He wants to deal with the pandemic.

When Schumer called Biden about the witnesses, this is probably how the conversation went:

Schumer- “Joe, good news! We will have witnesses take the stand.”

Biden- “Will it change any votes in the Senate?”

Schumer- “LOL no.”

Biden- “Wrap it up then.”

No one remembers or GAF about the 1st impeachment. No one is gonna care about this in 2022.

It’s hard to tell exactly what went on. Seems like for some reason House Managers wanted to get Rep. Beutler’s testimony on the record, maybe because that was important evidence in getting one or two additional R votes. They might have messed up by not making it part of the record during their main arguments. It seems like her remarks have been out there for some time, although not widely reported on until last night. So they come up with the idea of calling her as a witness, and then come up with a compromise that both sides stipulate that her statement can be part of the record because neither side really wants to go through the process bringing witnesses.

So, the jury gets no time to deliberate? This is so unlike a real trial, it shouldn’t really be called a trial at all.

Yeah the “we should have endless witnesses and hearings to stick it to the GOP the way they stuck it to us with Benghazi” is a pretty hot take tbh. What did Benghazi even do? Rile up a couple GOP yokels in the base, I guess? Majority of America thought “what a waste of time, this is complete politics bullshit and nothing will happen” and they were right. Hmmm.

I agree this is stupid. I mean, either way, it’s not going to matter, but there’s this little Sweet Summer Child part of me that thinks McConnell will decide to vote against Trump and time to deliberate could give him a chance to rally votes.

Nothing matters.

Sure, but we knew that already. We have a whole thread dedicated to their incompetence!

So who’s the first key R Senator where we know for sure it’s acquittal?

Whoever comes first alphabetically
