I don’t mean about the debates, I mean that a wide portion of the more forward looking part of the GOP/conservative media distanced themselves from Trump prior to the 2016 election, expecting him to lose. They then crawled right back the second he won obviously and pretended it never happened.

From my FB centrists, I think slightly more blame goes to Trump, but there is a lot of both siderism about 1) being hard to follow 2) attacking the other guy instead of telling me what you want to do and 3) general civility critiques (Biden telling Trump to shut up, calling him a clown, etc).

I’d say the overall tone is disappointment that these are the two people they are supposed to choose between.
