The Final Debate: Biden v Trump the Shitshow wrapped in a clusterfuck having sex with a goatshow inside a dumpster fire

Biden is up 7-8 points nationally, more than 5 in the tipping point state, and in every other swing state. All we needed was a draw last night. Also, I don’t agree with you. I think last night was the Comey tapes for Trump.

there are tons of people who don’t like either and i doubt the ‘nothing matters’ stance is based on any proof.

Not everyone’s mind is made up. There are less such people than there are four years ago, but there are such people. Those people won’t watch the debates, but will be influenced by the media narrative coming out of the debates.

The truth is that Biden should be trying to influence Chuck Todd in the debates, not swing voters or disenchanted Bernie Bros, and those sorts of arguments are not compelling for the regulars on this forum.

He may not be less unhinged. But you won’t hear him. What hurt him is everybody hearing him being unhinged.

Trump won’t walk from the debates if they allow the cutting of mics. He loves the debates, he loves trying to be a tough guy, and he thrives on grievance.

Yeah and “boo hoo they muted my mike” is grade A material for him.

If he thrives on grievance, won’t he want to to go to the debates, force them to cut his mic, then complain about how they are being biased because they haven’t been cutting Biden’s mic?

Right?

I expect him to threaten to boycott and whatever like a pouting child, but come debate day he won’t be able to help himself.

Yes, which is why I said he won’t walk from the debates.

Ehh didn’t he boycott a primary debate because they were “unfair” to him? He could very easily do that here.

Yes but he’s getting his ass kicked. I don’t recall that being true during his 2016 primary.

Yes, but he was also 15 points clear of the closest competitor in polling by that point.

He is losing the race, he has to do something to shake up the race. If he doesn’t debate then he’s basically accepting the loss.

They’re going to have to work on the mic cutting plan. You’ll still probably be able to hear him in the background and certainly Biden would still be able to hear him if he’s within shouting distance. I’d like to see them use little booths with plexiglass doors that open when its your turn to talk and close when its not.

I know people want a Biden dunkfest on Trump, but I could argue that he needs to stay the course, pace himself so that he doesn’t run out of energy over two hours of debate, and avoid getting cocky.

There’s an expectations game here that Trump can’t possibly be worse than he was in the past debate, so being somewhat under control will be seen as an improvement. Is there any way Dems can raise expectations for Trump so that even mild improvement will be seen as a failure?

Biden needs to gameplan some retorts if Trump physically approaches him because his mic has been cut. I feel like “Get behind me, Satan” would work in some contexts.

Trump will get worse. He always does. If they cut his microphone he is a lock to just start obnoxiously yelling and he might physically approach Joe.
