The Crypto Thread

thanks, i just pulled it up again and the recommended fee is all the way down to like $1.20 now for 17 sat/b, where i’m pretty sure it was like 8x that earlier today so i’ll go ahead and do it now.

Don’t knock low grade racing til you’ve tried it. Since your time corruption has had to move from laying in win markets to laying in Betfair place markets to avoid detection, where no sane person bets, and backing in the win markets as insurance, which is exactly what the punter wants. Sure there are successful and sometimes spectacular owner/trainer gambles that come off, but relative to the amount of racing they’re few and far between.

Low grade races are where well informed bettors look for value. Big festivals and higher class races are for the super informed card readers, and good luck to them trying to split a highly competitive field.

Got a ledger s yesterday. Now to figure out how to set up it up. :grinning:

So I have the ledger set up.

Two questions

  1. I assume I should store the device and paper with passphrase in different location?
  2. if I get hit by a bus I assume the only way for my partner to access this is to fully understand the device and passphrase?

Yes to both I would say. I recently got a ledger nano s and I followed a suggestion on reddit to first, before putting a meaningful amount of crypto on it, factory reset the ledger and recover using your passphrase. It’d be good to know how to do that, for you and your partner.

Hey, so, quick PROTIP gang:

Don’t wake up in the middle of the “night” and decide that’s a super optimal time to place sell orders, because you might place your entire stack instead of the 1/80th you meant to.

If this was real life and not a simulation that might be fine, but it’s not, so,

when you place that accidental order your thing will inevitably shoot up another 25% and be one of the best performing things on the day.

lord have mercy how to go from fistpump to tilt in nanoseconds

What you do is don’t learn the passphrase and only give it to your partner, that way when the ninja spy assassins come to your house you’re in the clear.

or what Caliban said

I bought some Etherium a few years back via coinbase and moved it to MyEtheriumWallet. Is that still a safe place for it to be? What’s ideal now? Something like Clovis has?

What Clovis has is the safest but you’re good with that one also. The modern exchanges are fine now too, things have came a long way since the wild west days.
