It’s not an argument about norms and procedures. Fundamentally it is an argument about numbers and power. Many more people voted for Biden. In fact, it is the GOP’s power that flows from arcane norms and procedures (Senate/EC).
Why would they overturn the apple cart in this way, knowing that when the dust settles they are worse off ~95% of the time?
