In ninth grade I didn’t know what maritime meant. This caused a pretty awful situation when a “maritime law” decision was mentioned in a spot where the context didn’t make it obvious and I responded as if we were discussing Divorce Court. Which I think I also thought was a real thing. Genius here.

Ehh, like he’s trying but I don’t see the Joint Chiefs doing anything other than telling him to go fuck himself, and I don’t see the Secret Service doing anything other than whatever Joe Biden tells them at 12:01pm on January 20th.
In order to pull of a coup, Trump needs the people he called losers and suckers to back him, and he needs the people he exposed to the virus over and over again so he could take victory laps around a hospital and such to back him.
Right, like this talk that he should declare martial law and hold a new election… With what voting machines? With what ballots? Does anyone thinks these clowns can put together the infrastructure for an election in four states in like two or three weeks, then carry it out without a hitch?
They can’t even fucking book the Four Seasons for a press conference. They’re holding state legislature hearings at like Econolodge conference rooms and shit.
So we can toss that one out, that leaves declaring martial law to arrest his political opponents and become dictator. The Joint Chiefs are sure as fuck not letting that happen.
I’m still not sure what I’m supposed to be worried about in terms of Trump retaining power. I’m worried about the divisions in this country, the chance he causes violence by Proud Boys and the like, and I have an extremely dire outlook on 2024 and beyond… But I don’t see how this coup has any chance of success.
