Everyone for real needs to have a plan about how to get out of America. Like really reflect on the fact that as recently as 2012, Mitt Romney was the Republican candidate for President. Think about the fucking slope of that trendline in what the GOP and their base are willing to countenance. Maybe something interrupts that trend but it’s hard to see what right now, and it’s not like I’m extrapolating decades into the future here. I’m talking about 8 years. Another 8 years of a similar trend is unimaginable. Imagine the Trumpist movement being to the GOP what Romney is to the GOP now.

Yeah I dont have enough money or skills to get into another country plus moms cant travel. If the us goes down that road the whole world is fucked.

My best option for getting out of America involves going to a specific country that many would argue is worse than America. My best scenario is probably trying to make enough money to make homesteading in the US a viable option so that I can isolate and try to ignore the madness.

I don’t know what we’re going to do. We have enough money to retire and get out to somewhere cheap, but then more than half of our money is locked up in US tax shelters and so the choice would be to take it out now and get reamed on taxes and penalties, or leave it in and possibly lose it if the entire shithouse goes up in flames. Additionally, in order to go somewhere and purchase a working visa for our daughter, it will take a nice chunk of our savings. So we kind of borderline might not have enough money.
In any case, nobody is taking our pandemic ravaged sad sack asses for a while anyway, so we’re just going to stick it out for now and see what happens.
