Since 1982, including midterms and special elections.
That’s the conclusion I’ve independently come to. There is no way someone as incompetent as he is now could have been an effective prosecutor of any kind.

Meh. I think if I’m Kemp, I realize there is no realistic way to please Dear Leader, and I just shut up and do nothing in the hope that by my next election, things are at least mostly forgotten.
Trump is lazy AF. There is no way, for example, that he is going to drag his ass down to GA to campaign for Kemp’s primary opponent. Maybe there will be some negative tweets. That’s about it.
And with that, Rudy was guaranteed a quick and easy recovery. The healing powers of Riverman!

Some negative Trump tweets are all it takes to make someone persona non grata within the GOP today.
It’s possible Trump’s power fades when he leaves the WH, and the above effect doesn’t exist in two years, but I sure wouldn’t bet on that effect necessarily being gone so soon.

Those are likely enough to make him uncomfortable, considering that officials are being threatened. He’ll do what he can to stop or distract Trump from crapping on him in public.

He will retain more support for a longer period of time if he can successfully convince his followers that he is a martyr. And I am happy to see him persecuted.
