One point a lot of people have made is that Giuliani was always legit bad, even as mayor.
Thing is, the national narrative around 911 was (and is) jingoistic bullshit, but it played exactly into Giuliani’s “strengths”. He was the right moron in the right place at the right time. Everything since 911 has shown that he was just a cardboard cutout with the right camera angle at the time but is basically Michael Cohen when you move the lens.
His only real success was prosecuting the mob, but from what I’ve heard he mainly just took credit for the work of others.
