The beer, wine, and spirits thread

I think I’ve had Pliny (obviously prounounced Pliney despite what its creators say) twice, and it was great both times.

I was recently in California for a conference, and at one of the receptions I was excited to see cans of Racer 5. I haven’t had that beer in forever, and it’s one of my favorites. But it turned out to be quite bad. I assume it was either really, really old (which is most likely) or they’ve significantly gone downhill.

I don’t drink much anymore, but I do still have a taste for IPAs, and I’m happy that Fat Heads continues to make an outstanding West Coast style version.

Not sure what I’m going to open tonight. Something pretty old, probably - either a lambic or a big Goose Island stout (that will probably taste like cardboard because I’ve sat on it for so long).

It’s this for me tonight: Anniversary XXV (25) Ale (2021) - Firestone Walker Brewing Company - Untappd

Hopefully in celebration or at least uncertainty, rather than dread and grief.

I have some tonic. So I’m probably going to stop at the liquor store and pick up some gin on the way home and make that my celebration/dread drink tonight.

My wife, who never drinks, is more emotionally invested in this election than I am. Last night, she was like “I’m going to need to drink tomorrow. I think I’ll have White Russians. Or maybe, what was that drink that I had one time in a copper mug? [Moscow Mule]”

She has no idea what’s in either drink, and I’m not even sure she’s ever had a White Russian.

My point is, shit’s probably going to get crazy tonight.

Also, Brujos Brewing (in Portland, OR) is new and truly amazing, if anyone lives near there.

I may have one cautious beer at 8 pm or so. However at the first bad result, I’m turning off the tv and going to bed. Alternatively if Kamala starts crushing, I might pour something fancy and enjoy the Trump meltdown

You guys are a true inspiration. Bought these today.

Does a gasoline and bleach mixture count as spirits?

Sounds like it will get the job done

No, that’s called “Molson Canadian” and is considered a beer.

I ended up not drinking anything last night, which I am calling a victory

Gotta take your victories where you can find them
