Main way is Facebook groups at this point. I’ll PM you the name of the main one I know of. Just be aware to read rules thoroughly and know that any Facebook group could get shutdown any time.
Grunching a bit on the cheap wine derail. I have been on a french wine kick for 2 years or so. So not cheap wine. I went camping for 15 days so needed boxed wine bc you can just take the bladder out and it is super light. Best two I found by a mile are:
-Bota Box Dry Rose
-Black Box Red Blend
Both are from California. Both are incredibly good for sub 5/bottle pricing. So ya don’t ever drink any jug wine. WTF.
Anybody on untappd? Same username there for me
Tree house always delivers. Just picked up a fresh 24 can mix pack. As far as I know, only available directly from the brewery.
Found a reasonably priced Oregon Pinot Noir that we like. Goes for about $25/bottle and can be found cheaper on sale.
This is a nicely balanced wine in the rustic, earthy style: It reminds me of a good quality Bourgogne Rouge, or even a good village wine from one of the lesser communes.
This is the 3rd bottle that we’ve tried, and we’ve given each bottle a little more air as we’ve noticed that it improves with air. This time we popped the cork and let it sit for 2 hours before drinking it over several more. We may try decanting it next time, even though that is something we rarely do with pinot noir.
The nose, although not complex, leans toward red fruit and has that special pinot noir essence. The taste hints at beets and earth with some fruit lurking in the background. It’s a really solid value at the current price.
I like wine, but I’m not huge into wine, so I usually just go with whatever is cheap and palatable. This is my go to “nice bottle”, usually around $16.
The only time I ever spend more than that on a bottle of wine is the couple times a year I get a nicer bottle of champagne.
What is that one? I can’t tell from the picture altough possibly it’s a petite syrah?
If you like Champagne you should try the sparkling wines from Gruet in New Mexico, of all places. The family is from Champagne, and while in New Mexico on vacation they noticed a lot of similarities in the climate and soil and ended up starting a winery.
So far I’ve tried the NV Blanc de Blanc Brut Nature and the NV Cuvee 89 Brut and been very impressed with both. Almost impossible to find better value in the $15 range, at least for my preferences. They are of comparable quality imo to many NV Champagnes that cost 2x to 3x more. We just bought a case of each at $12.74/bottle on sale.

Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks. It gets some nice Cellar Tracker reviews for a bottle in that price range. I’ll have to try it.
Another massive fire started in Napa overnight. People being ordered to evacuate certain areas. Sad to see what’s going on there and all over the West Coast with fires this year. 2020 can’t end fast enough. Stole this photo from another site.
Looks like things got much worse in Napa overnight. Reports of several wineries burning and houses up in flames in some areas.
Jealous of this one!
I like Bota box too, but the Rossi is substantially cheaper and pretty good. Bota Merlot is my favorite.
One more to trigger full jealously - yesterday was a good day!
This is my second time purchasing directly from the brewery. About a five hour round trip for me. Definitely worth it for a bulk buy, if anyone is in Boston.
If anyone is a wine person who likes estate vintages from northern Napa and Sonoma wineries, I highly suggest you buy them up now. There aren’t going to be estate wines for a long time because these vineyards are all on fire.
My old roommate is a wine rep in Minneapolis. Any suggestions? I want a winter stash. He’s bought a few old people’s cellars and his basement is straight loaded with wine. It’s crazy. Every time I go there and have several hundred dollars in wine that I never remember.
whew, there are a ton of vineyards in that area.
Chateau Boswell is a confirmed loss. Parts of Ledson were burning, too. But that’s just the winery buildings. Not a lot of news coming out about actual vines, but there’s a lot of old growth stuff in that area.
Basically the St. Helena, Calistoga, and part of the Sonoma Valley appellations are right in the fire area.
I sent him a message asking what he could get too but I’ll ask if any specifics you like. I’m a Cab and Pinot guy mostly but drink and enjoy whatever.
