Everything here is pretty much 6 packs, I see a few 4 packs at my local spot but not much.
That is a good idea though, i was thinking a full 6 pack sent of the same but obv 6 different ones or 3 sets of 2 would be much better.

Since March I have been getting beer shipped to me because I have been away from the city. They really do package them pretty securely. I got an order of a dozen cans this week and they wrapped each individual can in bubble wrap!
I’ve seen bottles with their tops covered in electrical tape, sealed in a ziploc bag, and wrapped in bubble wrap.
Did your cans have anything more than the bubble wrap, like the tape or bag?
They put them in a box like you would use for 12 wine bottles. Each can wrapped in bubble wrap then inserted into the slot in the box to keep them upright.
My buddies and I just ship via USPS in regular boxes. Usually 6-8 cans stuffed with protective packaging and a small container of coins to hide the liquid noise. How would we do this with multiple people? Draw numbers for your swap?
Here’s my rough draft idea that is open to changes/discussion. I don’t think there is a need to draw #'s.
Let’s say that we get 4 people who want to swap(Me in SD, you in Indiana(?), @wirelessgrinder (AL), and another poster from ??) . Each one of us purchases 3 or 4 6packs. 18-24 beers total. Send 6-8 beers to each of the other 3 people in the swap. And each of us would receive 3 packages from the other swappers.
My thinking on this is that it’s about the same amount of effort for me to ship to 3 people as it is to ship to one person. So, may as well do that and get a wider array in return.
Thoughts?
sounds good to me.
The recent USPS mess had me worried that a large purchase from Belgium wouldn’t make it through. But miracles exist!
24 bottles of various types of gueuze from 3 Fonteinen:

Looking forward to diving in.
Probably in for this.
Though I wish I could ship things cold. Probably don’t want to send you stuff that should always be cold like Heady Topper or Lawson’s Maple Nipple.
But I should be able to find some good stuff at room temperature at the nearby beer store.
Checking in from Boston to say that I’m interested in a beer swap.
I can get Trillium with ease as they are just down the road. Would say they’re a great representation of hazy/juicy NEIPAs.
They also brew a lot of sours/wilds and have some great barrel-aged stouts.
I have a friend that has “a system” for swaps through the mail using ice packs and the standard issue/flat rate USPS or FedEx box. I think it’s FedEx. He is a beer geek and swaps regularly w people around the country.
If I remember, it perfectly fits 2 4-packs and is a flat rate regardless of weight. I’ll try to get more info this weekend, but that might be a good option if we want to ship cold beers.
Definitely would be interested in a cold beer swap if it’s possible without being absurdly expensive.
i’m interested but I really suck at logistics. If you can explain to me exactly what to do I might be able to participate.
Maybe I’m way wrong, but I’ve had world class IPAs shipped to me warm. Still tastes delicious and I don’t think it matters that much for things like this. Sure, it would be better if they were kept cold, but it’s a small price to pay for variety and the opportunity to try them.
agreed
Jealous of that stash of gueuze!
I have built up a very good stash of gueuze. Means I can just meander over and grab a bottle off the shelf, like tonight’s:
My wife generally stays out of my beer room/basement office/man cave. But if she were ever to do a full accounting of the beer down there (and its cost), there would be trouble.
Your beer game put us all to shame, but I look at it as a growing experience.
