Strict definition is a legal directive issued by an Islamic leader. More commonly, though, it’s an edict to one’s followers to kill someone (think Salman Rushdie in the 80s).

This seems like a situation where they’re in a very difficult spot: do the honorable thing, and end up with severe consequences. It’s not fair. It’s especially not fair because I’m sure many of them did not sign up for this kind of “requirement”.
The states where this kind of Stasi regime is in place need to change their laws.

I too would love to be a doctor working in a state where it’s a choose your own adventure with a 10 year old whose pregnant with a rapist baby on one hand and my license on another.
