Texas power outages and Ted Cruz travel agency

Having a previous tweet to contradict everything he is currently doing is part of his plan to be the next Trump.

Maybe he was just trying to get a better view of the destruction.

What’s the normal operations for most congress critters? It certainly seems like AOC spends a lot of her staff resources on servicing her constituents. But she’s really the only congress person I follow because of the thread here.

I never see anything from my rep about any local things going on, but I don’t follow them closely. What’s it like everywhere else?

My gut says that if there was this kind of emergency in AOC’s district she’d be rallying resources to help.

My US and state reps have all been very responsive over the years. US rep helped with capitol tour. State rep on my covid unemployment.

I rarely see a story where a rep of either party stiffs their constituents. Bad business.

Normal Congressional offices spend a ton of time helping constituents. Low level staffers spend most of their time tracking down missing social security checks and similar stuff.

Most members of Congress open at least one office back home where at least one person is assigned to handle casework. I’m sure most of it doesn’t actually reach the level of attention from the actual Congressperson.

Here is a short description of casework from the Congressional Research Service.

I just called my local rep’s office to inquire if there’s been any progress on allowing people to get unused DCAP funds back since I figure a whole lot of people (me included) didn’t need to send their kids to childcare in 2020 because we’ll all working from home anyways.

Wrong.

I just want to note that those representing Texas like Cruz, Cornyn, Abbott, Patrick, Crenshaw et al are the Facebook of Politicians.
