Idiots need more granularity than âdowntown networkâ where ten percent of use is high priority and the rest is wasted energy that could be powering homes.
Cool that people can stare off to the fully powered empty buildings in the distance while they freeze to death and say, âWhat more could they have done?â
I donât think people realize how hardcore Texas went on deregulation.
Even worse itâs not a competitive environment, itâs completely controlled by individual companies. The only competition is via the facade of consumer facing sales organizations. I could purchase electricity from fifty different companies. It all comes to me from the same place via the same route and repairs and support are done by the same people.
Deregulation was simply a way to strip obligated costs from a monopoly. I am sure Abbott et al are already pushing legislation to protect these companies from lawsuits.
Iâm needed here. This region is all fucked up as well, state of emergency declared or something. The bosses requiring everyone to work even their regular days off
I had no idea until I read this thread that Texas could get so cold. I hope everyone is holding up ok under the power outages. The same thing happens here with power outages, more affluent suburbs keep their power and the poor areas go out. Itâs criminal really, particularly because richer people can ride out the outages easier. Try replacing a fridge/freezer of food when youâre barely scraping by.
My sister lives in Austin. She and family havenât had power since early this morning. No water either. She asked me for advice and I have none. Stay warm and try to sleep was best thing I could come up with. LOL at these officials blaming anyone but themselves for their issues. Texas is a deep red state. I guess that explains why theyâre not taking any blame.
SATX power situation seems to be improving considerably. 24-36 hours ago their utility map had 350K (of 865K) without power. That has come down significantly through today and is at about 110K now.
