Texas power outages and Ted Cruz travel agency

He’s not up for re-election until November 2024.

No one is even going to remember this in November 2021.

Oh, they’ll remember the event, and Abbott might be in trouble in 2022 (though probably not because Texas).

But no one will remember or care about Ted Cruz going to Mexico when 2024 comes around.

Something jumped out at me from that statement “attributable to Sen. Ted Cruz.”

My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas.

I think it’s telling that the first thing they mention about what they’re doing to help is that they’re trying to find out who to blame. That seems a little backward to me–shouldn’t they first focus on responding to the disaster, i.e., preserving people’s lives and safety? The post-mortem/blame game can come later. But grievance/persecution is a core value for the conservative mind, so here we are.

It’s not even about remembering specific things. You just have to encourage people to hate Cruz and Abbott. Even if people forget why, they still retain that emotion. And, of course, you want to keep piling on with a bunch of little things, whether real or imagined, to maintain that hate.

If that’s how they feel about him going, I wonder how they feel about him coming back?

Of course I know they will blindly, whole-heartedly support his decision to come back the next day despite the obvious conflicting views. Whatever though, can’t help some people.

They’ll hate him for coming back. Never apologize, never back down. It just makes the woke mob demand more blood. Trump would tweet a pic from a beach drinking champagne (a nice beach bar, not actual sand obv) and the R base would go BANANAS for it.

Chiefsplanet running with “The man had a vacation scheduled, those are expensive!” and “I personally have no idea what senators do all day. So therefore I am pretty sure that unless Cruz has experience running a power plant, there is nothing he could do to help.”

The Texas mask is just blatant pandering, right?

Conservatives are really weird when it comes to vacations. Always go to the same place at the same time every year or go on a cruise. That’s why they are hellbent on not allowing Covid to dictate their behavior. Same with the holidays. “Well, it’s THANKSGIVING! We have to go over to Grandma’s with 20 other people. What else are we supposed to do?” The thought of postponing or canceling the only little joy they have in their miserable lives is reprehensible to them.

Who pointed out that his wife is a Goldman Sachs investment banker and they are, presumably, not hurting for money?

He left the extra bag on top in Cancun so he didn’t look like he was packing a ton on the way back

Let’s introduce him to watevs.

So weird that he’s not even flying first class but on the upgrade list. That’s actually kind of endearing? Ugh

Is this a conservative thing or a boomer thing?

Feels more like the latter in my experience.

It’s a 90-minute flight. And he probably flies for work so much that he gets nearly automatic upgrades.

Also, this is the resort he supposedly went to:

“One of the best Cancun resorts in the world”. LOL, they know their market…“none of the other Mexicos can compete with our Cancun resort”.
