Looks like I wrote a more detailed post about this two years ago:
AO hard court is slower than open hard court
You cannot hit the ball by him
I lived in an apartment complex once that had properly installed outdoor hard courts (also had racquetball courts inside the main clubhouse). They were so good that USPTA instructors would give lessons there. Too often in fact because none of them were residents and we’d have to run them off just to get a court sometimes.
That would make sense to me but
One of the differences between the surface at the Australian Open and the US Open is related to court pace. According to the ITF court rating, the surface at Melbourne Park provided by Greenset is ‘Category-4: Medium Fast’, while the one at Flushing Meadows provided by Laykold is ‘Category-2: Medium Slow’.
Got it backwards.
Whatever the reason. He just dominated on that surface. Much like Nadal at RG. Surface is made for his game
It’s gotten to the point I don’t enjoy the earlier rounds as much
Oh rublev is playing FAA in the fourth round?
Who cares. They have 0% title equity right now.
I don’t mind because that sort of match is super meaningful to guys like that even if you know they won’t win the title. Getting to the quarters or semis is a huge deal to everyone but the top five guys.
And then Wimbledon and US Open Novax and Ralph could lose to a guy like Medvedev or Rublev or FAA or Kyrgios when they run up against them. And in a couple of years, or sooner, they’re just going to get old and their level will drop, no matter how much adrenochrome gets pumped into them between sets. You never know when it’ll happen.
Yay. Better living through chemistry.
i think the weather conditions in aus also play a huge factor, novaks superior conditioning is more evident in the aussie summer heat compared to the rest of the slams
Another factor might be beginning vs end of season. Healthy Novak versus worn down Novak.
Just thinking about his 2021 season, he won 27 straight five set slam matches. Insane and incredibly impressive but that has to take a toll on a guy. Let alone someone 33 years old.
Apparently Novaxx had an inch tear in his quad. Ouch
Still was -1800 in the semis lol
er, hamstring.
I want to see all the great retired tennis legends playing pickleball against each other. Someone make it happen!
It’s happening in a couple months. I expect it to be more of a hokey exhibition without much real pickleball being played, but will be interesting to see either way.
This is the most ridiculous DQ ever. Wasn’t hit hard or in anger.
Apparently their opponents complained and lobbied for the DQ.
well if the rule literally says don’t hit a ball into a ball girl…
Also remember when people talked about majors and now fed and nadal’s bodies have broken down, sad.
well alcaraz/djok in the semis might be worth it
Hate how this roided up guy grunts with every single strike of the ball.
How many syringe timeouts do they have remaining between the two of them?
