His legal team say they will seek an injunction, but I’m not sure on what grounds one would be granted. The minister has the authority to cancel any visa he likes to maintain “good order” in Australia and it’s up to him to decide what that means. Hard to see how you argue against that and therefore I don’t see why a judge would grant an injunction. But I guess we’ll see.
Scomo going to be fistpumping despite this being a complete clusterfuck
The govt looked heavy handed for a little while there but after all the other stuff came out and Djok looked like an asshole, it will for sure be a political win now. Not to mention that all the people sympathetic to Djok are probably dyed in the wool Coalition voters anyway.
Unless he or she holds a Djokovic future
Did he have to immediately report to the holding pen hotel?
Whata Djokovic.
Can someone publish a clean timeline of today?
1 Minister revoked visa

Did he get arrested?
Did he got taken to the “hotel”
Did he get out on a plane?
Did a court get involved again today?
I have no clue about the specifics, just thought that tweet sort of coming true was kind of funny.
I think it would be amazing if the Aussies had to Jimmy Cagney him onto the plane like a down under version of Angels with Dirty Faces, except it’s not an act.
2-4 is he’s a rich mega star and is never getting deported
I’m terrible at lines but I’d love to see one on this. I feel like he’s a fav to be thrown out of the country. Maybe I’m naive.
There is a hearing happening now. Apparently the preordained result is that he gets taken into custody but it doesn’t sound like jail or anything like that.
We have a twist? Article says yes but should be for naught.

It’s like trump and these other assholes
He’s a super star millionaire. He’s 100% playing.
I hope he catches a cold.
Covid right before the final to Rafa.
This is not really how politics works here. Making self-important assholes follow the rules like everyone else is a national sport. If there’s money at stake it’s different - like for instance Crown Casino are in huge trouble with various Australian governments at the moment, but they will likely basically wriggle out of it because they bring in lots of revenue and ultimately nobody wants to disrupt that. But there are no incentives like that operating here.
Having committed to this course of action, the government will now be all-in on getting this guy out of the country. It would be very embarrassing domestically now if he played. Of course the judiciary are independent and the government doesn’t control what they do, so it’s not an absolute guarantee. But I don’t see what the legal argument against deportation is and all the behind-the-scenes pressure here is going to be directed against Djokovic. I will be surprised if this doesn’t end with him getting deported.
The political line from the opposition Labor Party is that this is an international embarrassment, but what they’re saying is that he should never have been issued a visa in the first place. That he should have been allowed in is a fringe position.
In actual tennis, Gauff and Keys look they are heading to a third set tiebreak at Adelaide. Live on Tennis Channel.
Never mind. Keys broke to win 7-5 after being down 40-15 on Gauff’s serve.
