Take Me Out To The Blockchain - Digital Sports Collectibles

I’m having a crisis right now because everything is mooning, and i cant flip cards without dollars on my dapper balance, but dollars are depreciating insanely fast.

At least Lavine is an all star. Wednesday Lonnie Walker was a dollar and that made sense.

Hopefully we can maximize what we learn now vs the UFC meatheads when those come out.

i still want to believe there will be a dip after the next pack release but they might just delay this forever with 5k packs a week.

too bad mlb will take 25 years to get something like this

The UFC fans seems like a great crowd to buy the BLOCKCHAIN hype.

If they are smart, they’ll hold off on new common packs till they have the next set of moments ready to go. The way they could offer like 50k packs and make sure at least half the people get one. Also would make the packs not as insanely EV.

My $14 pack I bought last Monday is now valued at $1,154. This is ridiculous. I was planning to sell the Herro CC before the challenge ends next weekend but I’m wondering if holding longer makes sense.

i disagree but i’ve also been wrong about everything except that this idea has merit.

lol i just realized that the first moment he bought (Zach Lavine rare for $975) is worth double as much as he has now.

Curry up like $50 today.

I think part of the Herro value is the free AD. I’d definitely sell before the challenge is over - but then just reallocate to other cards.

UFC moments gonna be lit. Violence galore.

think star power is still going to drive that market (hi conor) but yes, the individual moments will be 100x better than topshots

there’s a few double KO’s in their history if they go back and find them

Jaylen is mooning. The Ayton I got sniped on is up from $30 to $40. Holy shit. Need more packs ASAP.

Evaluate.market has a “market cap” listed of each moment based on lowest ask x # in edition. I’d be interested to see what the aggregate market cap of the entire topshot market is based on this calculation, but it isn’t available anywhere that I’ve found on there.

prob gonna sell off half when my collection hits 10k valuation, then hodl the rest until the nba finals, dump another half, then hodl for like 5 years when the remaining cards are worth millions

It’s got to be in the billions - and that is before taking into account the premium for good serials.

So 2 strategies you can adopt here, I’m not sure which is best, when the market is mooning and you have cash.

  1. Look for low serial # cards that are now a good value. For example, maybe someone posted a 3-digit serial FVV for $120, back when he was trading at $20. Now that he’s trading at $50+, a 3-digit serial is worth more than $120.
  2. Wait for the paper hands avalanche after the cards peak and people start panic selling because they think the top is in, and try to specifically target low serial #s during this period of time as well. If people are trying to exit a market quickly they’ll sell lower serial #s for lower price
