Super Bowl Menu 2021

I have lost roughly 30 pounds in the past year. I plan to gain back at least a few of those this Sunday.

Post your menu, recipes, etc. here. I need suggestions.

Thinking of going with a brunch consisting of steak and eggs, probably with some shrimp cocktail , smoked salmon and fresh squeezed orange juice. Not healthy, but not terrible.

For the rest of the day, I’m looking for a project. Dips, bakes, etc. Perhaps lasagna or ziti. Can’t do a big hunk of beef because nobody else in my house eats meat and I only do so sparingly.

Pics appreciated.

dang, no meat? Well, my go-to party option is off the table then (Skyline dip).

You cannot go wrong with a good fresh guacamole. It’s super easy to make yourself and 100% vegan. Mine has 6 ingredients. let me know if you want an explanation. It’s easy to make and always a hit.

Did you ever get those kind crab legs from Costco? I think you mentioned this in the holiday thread. Was thinking about putting them on the menu.

Yes! They were incredible. 10 pounds is an absolute shit ton of crab legs though, we ate them continuously all weekend and still didn’t finish the whole package. We had them both warm and cold, and I prefer them chilled but either is good. The key is letting them thaw in the fridge long enough, which took almost two days.

If I had lost a bunch of weight (congrats!) and wanted to put it all back on during Super Bowl Sunday, I would simply make a vat of buffalo chicken dip and demolish it with a bag of Fritos. (For the record, buffalo chicken dip does not count as meat - do not @ me).

Nice. Good tip too. Now I just need the weather to cooperate…

May have to try them next Costco run. Only going when dog needs food and she’s got a month or so left. I am out of Costco liquor staples though.

But it’s so much more fun karate-chopping the pit with a knife and twisting it out.

I’ll freely admit, I’ve had a lot of practice. I learned my guac recipe from a mexican restaurant I worked at…we had the “table-side” guac appetizer, so the recipe had to be simple, and we had to cut the avos with flair to entertain people.

Using a shorter knife is also a way to avoid it.

Also, the way they describe makes getting the meat out of the skin more tedious, since it’s harder to hold onto and dig out with a spoon.

I cut half and roll it over with knife in it. Take half off and remove pit.

I received a gift certificate to Goldbelly for Christmas, so I ordered a bunch of “LouWill Lemon Pepper” wings from Magic City. I figure if he was willing to risk an NBA bubble violation for their “takeout”, the wings must be good, right?

I am still sorting it out. With Tampa in, I think we at least have to try to track down some Cigar City beer, but it may be hard to find here. KC style ribs also have to be considered. I usually do Sriracha wings and fancy nachos.

I don’t know anything about those wings, but I insist on a Goldbelly trip report afterwards. It seems like a really cool idea, but wowwowow at those prices. $99 for 4 cheesesteaks from Pat’s? LOL no.

Edit: $140 for an Arthur Bryant’s BBQ sampler feeding 6-8 sounds fine?

Edit2: Pretty sure I’m about one beer away from ordering this:

I’ll definitely post a trip report after wing consumption. My hunch with Goldbelly in general is that you’re probably paying about what it costs in restaurant plus shipping costs for overnight or two day shipping (even if they advertise “free shipping”, it’s getting built into the price). That being said, I do see $10 or 15% off coupons circulated pretty regularly (I used one on this order), which would make it a little less painful.

Magic City is on my bucket list of places to visit

Oh, Cuban sandwiches! Cuban sandwiches made with KC-style bbq pulled pork?

there is no worcestershire sauce anywhere in this city, is there some viral superb owl recipe I’m unaware of that requires 9 gallons of it?
