I mean step one for holding the neocons at bay would be to, you know, not hire them for powerful positions. But I guess there’s no way that Trump could have known what Bolton was all about before hiring him, credit where credit is due for finally getting it right and firing him.
Bolton was the worst of the worst. His being gone is a huge positive for the globe and a giant step forward for peace. Sure it like Dahmer fired Bundy as his side kick but at least Bundy is gone.
Trump is imo the Villian from Kick Ass 2
There is presently $1.5 trillion in outstanding student loans and around 11% of them are more than 90 days delinquent.
1.5 trillion!
It is infuriating to think about the collective good that could be done just by implementing tuition forgiveness + universal healthcare. The amount of debt that would be wiped out, the amount of stress that would be eliminated, the overall improvement in everyone’s lives… yet these are somehow “fringe” positions (not with the general public, but with politicians) that have minuscule chances of becoming law.
Meanwhile bailing out Goldman Sachs just by god makes sense what choice do we have?
For some reason I’ve been watching parts of The View on Hulu lately. An interesting look into what privileged normies think about the state of America.
Haven’t read yet, but no doubt of interest to some:
The Perils of Semi-Legal Poker
By exploiting a legal loophole, two friends tried to build gambling businesses in Texas. They were dealt very different hands.
This is a good read

That looks like transitional housing for people with downward mobility making the shift from broke renters to homeless.
I figured something called “Podshare” was likely to have a business model based on that Seinfeld episode where the Asian businessmen slept in drawers in Kramer’s apartment.
It’s $1400/month. That’s 50% more than I paid for a one-bedroom at the beach for 10 years and probably about what that place is going for right now. The studio next door is still probably $1200.
My freaking house payment on my one-bdrm is $1600/month. I’d be lucky to rent it out for $2200.
This place is either or a hostel or kids who are new to LA and hoping to make contacts. Which I guess isn’t terrible - but man that girl playing Smelly Cat would run me off after one night. Everyone in the audience looks miserable. They couldn’t act happy for the camera on time? And that’s the pick they choose as their cover?
This is the American dream

An orange in every pod.
Right, I see it as something for people who can’t afford a rent payment or get approved for an apartment, but can scrape together a couple hundred bucks for a few nights while they try to claw their way up in the world.
