Not shocking on a paired board, but I’m the sort of player who thinks you don’t have to go broke set over set.

I remember someone once posting about a limit hand where the nut flush just called the river 3bet on an unpaired board against a straight flush.

The dude had like $500 behind and checked the flop on a very drawy board multiway. The odds he has a set are pretty low - and it’s not like risking $5k. Postle just calls turn and river with nut flush - loses minimum.

The odds he has a boat aren’t what matters. The question is what hands he calls a river raise with a worse hand. In a vacuum, it’s not wrong to just call the river with the nut flush on a paired board. In context, it looks bad, though.

I remember Dan Ariely (behavior economist) saying when given the option to cheat, most people only cheat a little bit. However, the larger the team is, the less appealing this becomes. Expectations of the duration of the cheat window probably affect it as well. That said, this guy definitely has a personality disorder or three.

Potripper only got caught (? since well real name we don’t know and he probably wasn’t dumb enough to leave the money on there) when someone in support sent someone everyone’s cards. Postle only got caught because someone brought it up and it was all on video. Lots of people including multiple professionals quickly denied any cheating whatsoever was even remotely possible.

Like, it’s really hard for these people to ever get caught, and he probably won’t have a single thing happen to him over this, except maybe have to spend it all on his lawyer. You guys are like if he just cheated less, he could’ve won 3x this and most likely nobody says shit before she actually did.

(these people suing aren’t gonna get anything bc postle won’t have any money due ot his own idiocy or lawyers so the lawyers always win–sketchy as hell how some immediately offered services because they should’ve immediately realized this like I did but lawyers gonna grift/lawyer)

There’s also still many scenarios where stones was just a bunch of morons trying to hype up a stream, but if simply being really stupid was a good enough reason to get a bunch of money our court system would never take a case for a decade if you started filing now.

(I don’t believe this of course, I can’t think of a reason to switch the 86o rebluff into the 89 nuts during the stream unless you realized it looks damning as all hell). (Yes, the RFID is clearly buggy on these streams if you’re paying attention overall and maybe someone thought it’d be fun to change some cards on the stream once in awhile to make it look more interesting/fishier) I can’t say for sure so that’s why we have investigations, hopefully we’ll learn everything and can ensure a game doesn’t get taken for this live ever again.

It’s not even possible to switch the 86o in time. It makes no sense at all. Also, the dude he played that hand against said he was 100% certain he saw a diamond when he tossed them in.

Potripper was Russ Hamilton former Main Event Champ and principal at UB.

maybe it was accidental, or maybe it was a whistleblower!

Well, two things:

  1. DONKFISH ON A HEATER BRO WHATEV

but

  1. They DID notice; that’s how this MTT HH ended up coming to light. Every hand shown down was a smoking gun.

legit ridiculous

How did this guy make it through like two sessions without being called out for this?

0% chance he’s not cheating, and that’s without rounding.

Silly question, but is it a crime to cheat at a poker game? I just assume anyone caught gets shunned or their ass kicked.

I’m pretty sure it’s a legit crime - based on what some lawyers said in the 22 megathread.

It’s kind of a shame they couldn’t get the cops involved and catch him in the act. Clearly going to the casino first was useless. And I’m sure the cops would just laugh at you. But maybe you could get them to listen eventually.

But no chance of catching him red-handed once you go public. Now what you need is police to scare the crap out of potential accomplices and get them to roll over.

This is from CA penal code 332.

  1. (a) Every person who by the game of “three card monte,”
so-called, or any other game, device, sleight of hand, pretensions to
fortune telling, trick, or other means whatever, by use of cards or
other implements or instruments, or while betting on sides or hands
of any play or game, fraudulently obtains from another person money
or property of any description, shall be punished as in the case of
larceny of property of like value for the first offense, except that
the fine may not exceed more than five thousand dollars (,000). A
second offense of this section is punishable, as in the case of
larceny, except that the fine shall not exceed ten thousand dollars
(,000), or both imprisonment and fine.
    (b) For the purposes of this section, "fraudulently obtains"
includes, but is not limited to, cheating, including, for example,
gaining an unfair advantage for any player in any game through a
technique or device not sanctioned by the rules of the game.

I think the big test will be to see if the players come together to put forth a civil case, as a $5,000 fine is nothing compared to the 250K he stole. Unless 332 can be interpreted to be on a per session/per hand basis, a 5K fine is essentially screaming for people to do this as often as possible if thats the only ramification.

I think there’s already a class action in the works.
