Imagine writing a law so dumb you can’t pay in cash but can in silver coins.
How do you know?
it’s officially a charity event, according to those rules you can’t cash for more than $500+ buyin.
If the coins are legit, they just really fucked up with a last second plan instead of fully thinking this out first.
2p2 thread is updated, at least the guy posted on FB claiming it.
which makes sense given the info we know, the players got that price back in the coins they got
“The guy” is a known career scammer according to multiple people in thread. The metal dealer’s name on the business card is Andy Mettiller but he signed the receipt (lol) Andy Mettille. All I’m saying is I don’t think anyone has actually tested the metal and are just taking this dude’s word for it. They could be $1.50 plated brass coins from China and the dealer could be the scammer or one of his hombres.
I know this guy is a cheating scumbag but part of me wants Disney to have to hand him a big ol bag of coins
I also find that Joe Ingram guy totally insufferable.
Everything, absolutely everything, about this situation screams scam to me, and a decent chunk of my job is having exceptional scamdar.
If it weren’t a scam, couldn’t they have just payed in bitcoin?
I never really understood how Bill Perkins got to infinite money territory.
it’s like graduate iowa university, intern for billionaire oil dude, ???, infinite money.
Right, so assume the worst and hope for the best. At least the coins don’t appear to be straight up counterfeit, but I would never start with that assumption given the actors involved.
Yeah I wondered that as well.
Bitcoin is hard to deal with for most people and I bet it’s classed as a currency as well.
I posted in the poker hands thread but see you are talking about the LOL donkament in illinois and holy shit what a clusterfuck, here is the story
It’s too bad there was nothing the organizer could do but make sure the payoff scheme was legal and working before the start of the tournament… Nobody could have seen that happening…
