I was saying that voting to end the judiciary after it is tried out doesn’t seem more insulting to beetle than voting against it now. It’s less insulting imo, and certainly way less insulting than people not taking his proposal seriously.
My vote is going to stay as a yes, but I think my actual feelings on this topic have been made pretty clear. 3 forum arbiters, all considered equal, no admin powers, serve in role as long as they are willing, and should be viewed as largely unbiased with a high polling requirement to be approved.
I believe a straight yes or no vote on my proposal would pass by a large majority.
Is this serious, semi-serious, semi-comedic, or full comedic?
If beetlejuice becomes supermod/admin, I would seriously consider leaving the forum and demand all my posts be removed.
Yes.
Yes I would like to speak to the forum manager it seems like someone has written an unauthorized joke in a serious business thread
Vote is currently tied. It would be unethical to solicit offers via PM to sell my vote, so I absolutely definitely will not do that, no way no how.
I changed my vote to no. I’m in favor of arbiters or judicial branch to help settle forum disputes, especially involving moderation. However, this proposal shouldn’t pass as is. It clearly doesn’t have wide enough support and @jmakin being against admin powers kills it for me.
I don’t think beetle is actually insisting on admin powers? He said that he would promise to not use any moderator powers outside of the Judicial Forum and that he would need a mod bailiff to enforce rulings. So it’d be like Risky Flush being mod but not using it outside the entertainment forum.
I assumed “admin-tier” was tongue in cheek.
Why would judicial branch members need to have any special privileges at all? If their role is to weigh evidence and make decisions, those decisions could be implemented by mods.
I think the idea needs to be presented in a way that a large majority is in favor of it, and it wasn’t in this case. Otherwise we start from a position of the judicial/arbiters not being valued by the community they’re supposed to serve.
After all the drama lately we can’t seem to be able to have even one serious discussion about solving this all. Everything doesn’t always have to be about the lolz.
Moderators serve for a six month term but Beetlejuice could always add like a million days to one of the months to ensure they serve for life. Or if he doesn’t like the moderators he could remove all but one of the days from those six months so they only serve for a six days. I trust Beetlejuice will do the right thing but I just wanted to give the community a bit of a heads up before we rush into this Pontifex Maximus thing.
this guy gets it
Are people actually ILLEGALLY changing their votes? #StopTheSteal
I haven’t voted either. I don’t like the idea but am loathe to even insult beetle this much.
If the authority positions have as little power as necessary and rotate without any referendums on whether people suck or not this could all be easy and almost every vote for a mod (if we even needed votes) would be landslides. Like who won’t say X poster can be mod 6 months?
New poll
Sure. The admin thing I just added because jmakin said he wanted another admin in case he drowned in the ocean or smth.
I live a dangerous life
This right here is an example of why I would oppose putting you in any position of authority on this forum. I’ll leave it at that for now.
Beetlejuice is a vile heretic who breaks mighty oaths even while the sacrificial blood is still wet on his lips, I will not give any of my daughters or servant girls as tribute.
