Here’s another one.
The writers are working from home.
Is there anyone on TV other than Scott Van Pelt that I can have on in the background to make me feel like I’m not in this alone? We need a Walter Cronkite right now. I guess Anderson Cooper. I’ll try him.
I haven’t watched sportscenter in prob a decade but I remember him. What are they talking about on that show now that sports don’t exist?
Inside Man is on AMC
NFL offseason.
And he does a segment (recurring I think) about the high school and college teams that were headed toward their dream seasons when this hit. Cornell men’s and women’s hockey were ranked #1 in the country. Women had never won a title. Lots of heartbreaking HS teams.
Pretty sure I don’t get that.
If it matters, and I would assume most here know this, things like that are uniquely a problem of the Hasidic Jewish community, and not even all of them at that. My mother-in-law lives near a large Hasidic community outside of NYC and they have caused a lot of problems. Basically play by their own rules, not giving a shit.
In the meantime, my rabbi (reform) has been putting out daily videos helping people understand the crisis and telling people to stay home. One of my best high school friends is a rabbi and has been giving free lessons online to encourage people to learn from home. My wife’s friend is Orthodox and she’s staying put.
The problem is uniquely Hasidic, and even then, it’s small percentage of that community.
AMC has The Walking Dead, most cable packages have it.
My bf has exhibited symptoms last night, cough and fever. He had a specialist appointment today where the doctor refused to treat him, understandably so. He had symptoms like this also about 3-4 weeks ago also but his gp was unconcerned and said it was highly unlikely to be Corona. He took time of work which was expensive as he is casual but we thought it was responsible. Anyway the doctor told him to go get tested at the fever clinic. I recommended he ring them prior to going to just be 100% sure he was going to the right place etc. They are ringing back this afternoon to make an assessment over the phone. The thing is if he isn’t tested he can’t see his heart specialist and he is in his 50s with chest pains so they better fucking test him. I feel quite stressed now. Can’t believe how bad it must be in the States with no tests in sight unless you have money or a name of sorts. I tell you what he better get the same treatment as Tom Hanks and his wife!
maybe the equatorial region is the one we should eyeball right now, not southern hemisphere
he best ways for you to achieve social distancing are pretty simple:
- You and your kids should stay home. This includes not going to church, not going to the gym, not going anywhere.
- Do not travel for enjoyment until this is done. Do not travel for work unless your work truly requires it.
- Avoid groups of people. Not just crowds, groups. Just be around your immediate family. I think kids should just play with siblings at this point – no play dates, etc.
- When you must leave your home (to get groceries, to go to work), maintain a distance of six feet from people. REALLY stay away from people with a cough or who look sick.
- When you do get groceries, etc., buy twice as much as you normally do so that you can go to the store half as often. Use hand sanitizer immediately after your transaction, and immediately after you unload the groceries.
My mom shared this and even my religious nutter aunt liked it. I think most of the olds are starting to realize how serious this is.
Drive around today and everywhere was packed. Worse yet, people exiting with 1 or two bags of groceries… great, guess they’ll be back tomorrow!
I went back to work today, dispatched from my driveway to 4 locations over 5.5 hours. Traffic was diminished, but not extremely so.
I was all about the distancing, and told pretty much everyone in proximity lol
I worked today and drove across LA at around 9am and again at 5:30pm and it was like midnight level traffic. That doesn’t mean no cars, but no traffic jams.
They said he needs to go get tested tomorrow and if it gets really bad overnight he needs to go to Emergency.
Australia has banned all non-residents from entering the country.
I feel thankful he can be.
