SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

We are allowed to wear surgical masks now that we realized we don’t have enough n95s. Also n95s don’t work for everyone and there isn’t enough of the alternative protection to go around. This thing http://www.lbs-biotech.com/products/personal-protection/max-air-systems-capr/

Ron Johnson says to wake him up when it reaches 10 million.

Do you need more surgical masks? Would sending my 2 boxes or dropping them off at a hospital near me help?

Good news suzzer a preliminary evaluation of the data shows slower spread in warm humid countries. Not close to zero spread, but it maybe slower.

Yeah that seems pretty likely to me. Man we need a hot summer to get here fast.

Call then and ask if you can donate them

That’s why I prefer AIDSflu.

Grunching a lot of today. The papers on the malaria medications led to my discovering that a cytokine storm is a possibility with COVID-19. That’s very bad news for people who have autoimmune conditions but cannot take the malaria drug because of that condition. Namely, my wife. She is also on steroids about half of the last three years, so is immunosuppressed. For some stupid reason, she has to go to work, but I told her to get a note from her doctor to say self-quarantine until forever. She would absolutely need to be hospitalized if she gets it. She’s got an appointment on Monday.

Also, re: diaper as a verb, this is from Webster’s Second Edition from about 1965. Come on, man!

Going back to my abstract thoughts. If young doctors and nurses are intentionally exposed to the virus and then test positive at this early stage when hospitals in general are not yet slammed, perhaps they will have time to recover and work thereafter without fear of re-infection. But that probably takes about a month or more. Obviously can’t risk intentional exposure for older doctors and nurses. And its troubling that some young people have been put in ICU for this. But I’m just trying to figure out how we can avoid virtually all the caregivers being out sick.

Malaysia, Brazil, Australia to name a few ramping up pretty hard last few days. They seem to be about 7-10 days behind us but have been consistantly growing on new cases every day.

In short I don’t see summer saving us.

If Trump keeps calling it China Virus every MSM outlet should start calling it Trump Flu until he stops.

JFC we have to start playing hardball before he gets us all killed.

Sao Paolo is highs in the 70s right now. It doesn’t seem sweltering there. Same with Aus. KC in the summer is disgusting.

I read somewhere that on one of other coronaviruses 86 degrees was a tipping point.

I’m pulling these from COVID - Coronavirus Statistics - Worldometer

If you poke around the Internet you can find the raw data.

They need surgical masks to put on patients too. I would consider donating my big ass respirator, but I wouldn’t think they’d take something used.

Yeah when you look at March 18th for Italy it’s not great but it least it still seems to be rounding off.

Also recoveries are starting to spike - which is good news to free up some beds.

Obamacare and Trump virus. I like it.

Keep an eye on some of the countries like Thailand over the next couple weeks. If 250 cases doesnt grow into thousands then ya maybe it matters.

Kind of strange. Relative to how other countries have handled coronavirus, the CR has been okay with this. Yet, opposition politicians are trying to force the Minister of Health to resign. I can understand why. The minister really isn’t traditionally qualified for the position. He’s a politician, not an expert in health. However, his deputy minister is an epidemiologist who specializes in immunity and vaccinations and was a university hospital director. Without question, he knows his shit. As things haven’t been going completely to plan (mostly due to slow delivery of equipment), the deputy minister has been taking most of the questions and giving press conference while the deputy has taken a back seat.

Although a case can be made for the minister to resign and have the deputy minister take over, it’d really throw a wrench into the planning process and make reacting to the evolving threat even more difficult than it is now.

Guess not everything’s perfect here. We’ve got 3 weeks until we become as bad as Italy. Hopefully, we’ll be prepared by then.

Brisbane has been around the 85 mark all this month and has like 100 cases - although it only just recorded its first case of unknown transmission. It’ll be interesting to see whether it fares any better than Sydney or Melbourne.
