30 new cases so far in the Czech Republic
To be fair, that was a morning announcement. There are two announcements a day. So there’ll be another coming up shortly that’ll likely add more to the list.
Health Minister claims that the country has three weeks to prepare the hospitals so we can avoid being another Italy.
As of noon today, people are mandated to wear a mask when going outside. I ripped up a T-shirt and wrapped it around my mouth and nose since I’m not lucky enough to have a proper mask. Wore it outside and saw that nearly everybody was abiding by the new law in place. Some people were even wearing it when interacting with people indoors.

Although you’re right that having banks end up owning all of these places isn’t any better.
There’s only so much science I can do at home. Rumor is we’re going to shut down any day now and I’ll be either doing something remotely or burning through a very limited supply of PTO.

Don’t horde. You can go to the store in a week or two and restock when 20% of the population will be infected and ventilators are all filled up and supply chains are definitely not going to be disrupted when the entire planet is being quarantined.

There’s no perfect solution with rents. I’ve basically done the deal twice where I buy a home, then when I move I just keep the old home and rent it. I’ve got a small condo rented to a young woman, and a 3 bedroom home rented to a young family, at what are below market rates, because I’m a softy.
I’m not a rich dude, I make $85k a year or so in an industry that is extremely affected by this outbreak, and if suddenly my tenants stop paying me for a few months, I’ll miss those mortgage payments. New Hampshire (very understandably, and I agree with the policy) banned evictions during this outbreak, I assume all the states will follow. I just think there’s a lot of folks who are “landlords” but are like generally middleclass like me and are not really built for missing months of rents.
This is not worth spending a ton of time worrying about in the larger emergency and I’ll probably be fine, and it’s always a risk to invest in real estate, but banning evictions wasn’t really a risk I had considered. Anybody that rents builds into the numbers the idea that you’ll have vacancies for some time, and I’ve never had any so I’ve been lucky thus far. Having a job that is tenuous thanks to this virus and adding the potential of 0 rental income for months is causing me to lose some sleep though. Worst case I guess I have to sell in a horrendous market.
Well Italy’s numbers don’t look good today.

Yeah we rent our condo and make $30 month after mortgage and HOA assessments. We were about 3 days away from putting it on the market before everything started going haywire. We still might put it on but for sale or rent.

My niece has just moved into her 1st home in November, I asked them to hold off until things improve in the UK… She’s a Radiographer and parter is a physics teacher… Things not looking good.

guys this is some mommy blogger type who complains about everything. she started her video “to all you crazy people buying out all the diapers”. i have no doubt if she had more money she’d just be complaining about something else. shes married with four kids and she has a tiktok account with only selfie videos of her venting. she posted a follow up video saying “we’re ok… we’re not destitute” from the backyard of their house. she can afford to buy more than 20 diapers at a fucking time c’mon.
