PA has always had really fucked up liquor laws, but this is especially fucked up.
like how many alcoholics are there in PA who are physically dependent on alcohol? Tens of thousands at least. I guess they can still buy beer at grocery stores?
I just learnt that there’s an on-going Israeli season of “Big Brother” and they are unaware of coronavirus.
which restaurant? Or at least, which area? Not to stalk you or anything, but aren’t you guys supposed to shut down by order of the governor? Or at least be carryout only?
I feel like the Gaslamp or any other touristy areas should be a ghost town. Not sure if that’s where you are though.
Nope. Only place in PA it’s legal to buy booze is the state shops.
Tell them to change clothes and wash up thoroughly after they get into the house. Leave the outside clothes by the door and let them air out. After 5 hours they should be fine.
I trust what the Chinese govt is telling their citizens on lockdown infinitely more than our govt right now.
oh good, this will literally kill people then. And flood ERs with withdrawal cases.
LOL they aren’t doing any of that. I’ve been forecasting exactly what happens next for two weeks and can tell they still don’t “get it.” They say they do, but they don’t. They are just saying it to appease me the same way you grin and nod when an Alex Jones truther starts talking about nano silver in his exciting new toothpaste from Mars. And then when I’m done talking, it’s like “that’s nice but we need bananas.”
Well FoxNews seems to be switching to “yes it’s bad but it’s the democrats fault”. Maybe that will get through.
Other than hand sanatizers, cleaners, medicine, etc., I don’t understand why demand should change. Why would anyone suddenly need more toilet paper, or food, or anything else than before? Guess my question is, why would the food supply chain be interrupted? Is it because truck drivers, farmers, etc., won’t be working?
It’s going to be funny when everyone is finally stocked up and then everything just sits and rots on the store shelves for months.
Their visa system is draconian and most first world countries require one to enter the country. Most expats who are there are originally from the CIS.
According to my friend, the health facilities outside of major cities are lacking to say the least.
A tiny Walmart that is roughly the size of a Walmart’s electronics section
They’re gonna fall back onto racism and blame it all on minorities like they always do. In 1918 it was the Spanish, in the Middle Ages it was the Jews poisoning the well. In 2020 it’s all the fault of the Chinese and maybe the Mexicans, we should have walled off America like Father Trump wanted to. We didn’t build the wall and look what happens.
The good thing about extreme isolationism is it turns off most of the Boomers. It’s for the Kelhaus’s and JuanValdez’s of the world. So they can’t run too hard with that I don’t think.
They are lifelong Democrats but scientifically illiterate ones. Fucking Boomers for fuck’s sake. If anyone thinks poor old people are self isolating and it’s the selfish kids/grandchildren pozzing them then LOL. My parents are driving hundreds of miles to stay with them next week.
goddamnit, my husband’s company is run by a bunch of fucktards.
They are die hard trumpers, first of all, and they still haven’t ordered WFH. To top it off, they are sending him to their remote testing site tomorrow to pick up aircraft parts because they never ship them, they have employees truck them around.
Oh…and someone at that remote site tested positive!
I told him to tell his boss that he needs to isolate because his wife is immunnosuppressed.
You need to go back and read up on Sartre’s bit about insincere trolling. There is never a point where they can’t insta-flip 180 degrees from one position to another because they don’t actually have any principles. They can run hard in any direction because they know at the snap of a finger they can run in another direction. One day Trump tells us everything is fine and it’s a fake media corona hoax, next day he tells us the Dems are soft on the Killer China Wu-Flu. His followers don’t care.
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”
Nota Bene: it’s worth noting that the great flu pandemic of 1918 is often called the “Spanish Flu,” but there’s good evidence that it didn’t start in Spain at all and no one really knows where it came from, in large part because the Great War was on and no media outlets were about to report accurate info about a disease outbreak. It might have started in France, Britain, Russia, or even Kansas, no one really knows. It’s still often called the Spanish Flu because people are still dicks.

We estimate 86% of all infections were undocumented (95% CI: [82%–90%]) prior to 23 January 2020 travel restrictions. Per person, the transmission rate of undocumented infections was 55% of documented infections ([46%–62%]), yet, due to their greater numbers, undocumented infections were the infection source for 79% of documented cases. These findings explain the rapid geographic spread of SARS-CoV2 and indicate containment of this virus will be particularly challenging.
Edit: For later infections the importance of undocumented infections drops dramatically, 35% sourced from that for period Jan 24 - Feb 8.
pozzing = word of the day
jfc if this couldn’t get anymore surreal.
